a cover of SAVATAGE`s song "Believe"

hey everyone, well this is a cover of Savatage`s 1991 song "believe", the song was written by jon oliva about faith not nessisarilly religious faith but just faith in one`s self but it could be taken in the religious sense very easily. Since his brother chris oliva the guitar player has died the song has been said to be about him and his loss of faith which caused his downfall , anyway here it is the Acoustic Version:
This song was done with Musiclabs RealGuitar, Garritan..s Steinway Piano & Cakewalks Studio Instrument(String Section) and a Spoken word part "Set up a Light in the Darkness" by Evrim Baykal from Looperman.com, and Vocals by me offcourse, hope you enjoy this as much as i love the band Savatage.

Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea...
for the devil sends the beast with wrath.....
because he knows the time is short.....
let him who hath understanding.....
reckon the number of the beast.....
for it is a human number...
it`s number is.....

Wow, nice job, Alan! Haven't heard this song in a long time. Great job on the vocals!! Maybe a little too much reverb? I would personally like to hear it a little dryer.

This wasn't my favorite Savatage album, but I might have to pull it back out and give it another listen. Hall of the Mountain King is still my favorite. I saw them a couple of times on the Gutter Ballet tour - once headlining a small club and once opening for Testament - and got to hang out with them a little bit both times. Really nice down to earth guys. Love to see the success they've had with TSO.

I've been off for a couple days and this board is loaded. I listened to Savatage (I never heard them, tunnel vision) when you said you were working on it. You sure did this nicely. Your have a great voice, Alan.

thanks dave, yeh you never like the verb LOL, Hall of the mountain king was my alltime fave from them and Gutter ballet & When the crowds are gone. They were a severely underated band in my opinion, now you`ve got Jon Oliva`s Pain & Metal Church & Circle,Circle al from the members of Savatage.

I like it, you may want to ride the fader down a little on the l-vox in the begining when it's just you and the piano and the pad. Then you can gradually bump it, a little more when that acoustic comes in, a little more when that 2nd acoustic comes in, etc :-) Just my ears your results may vary.

Alan--I think the problem is that there are just so many songs on here these days! I find it hard to keep up, but I try.

Anyway, unfortunately I had never heard this song before either, but it sounds good to me! I like the power and confidence in your vocals!

Is that an electric piano? At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but it totally depends on what you're going for. Oh, I see--you say it's the Garritan Steinway.... Somehow it sounds like it could sound better, but I haven't a clue how. But wait for the experts to chip in.

    Anyway, great job!

Very nice cover, Alan! Great vocals, and sensitively performed. I'm not wild about the vox reverb. It's not too heavy, it's just that whatever you used isn't as flattering to your vocal as a nice delayed plate sound would be. Nevertheless, you've done an excellent job with this.

thanks gary, i`ll look into the delayed plate sound and see if it would be better.

I know that I always look for your stuff and it's been a couple days, again, and I can't believe how many are getting posted. I'm going to go back a page and see what I've missed. Anyway, I like this, again!
