a hymn for her

This is just trying to get a feel for the harmonies? It's me doing all the parts.

Dona Nobis Pacem, it's Latin for "Give Us Peace"

If you have peace, do you really need anything else?

the full song will be along in short order, again, I'm just trying to work out the harmonies. I did use Melodyne (magic juice...) to touch it up, but not to pitch shift, that's me singing mezzo soprano :-)

It’s a lead part, two baritone parts, one bass, two tenors and two sopranos.

May God give us all peace…

Yeah, I was asking someone to listen to it? And I said, "get ready for the best 17 seconds of your life!" and then it was like, wait, that didn't come out right...

Love it. We do it in choir. It's a round and quite lovely.

I'm so happy to hear you do it...(and you do it well)

ha! yeah, the whole song will probaby be 3 mins or so, but as no how said, it's a round, so the only wordz are Dona Nobis Pacem (Give Us Peace).

I'll probably start it with one part, then bleed the others in, then start the round. It will be fun!

You're full of suprises Robby! I'm shaking my head in disbelief over this... I wasn't expecting this and I'm blown away man!! I would love to hear a full-blown version of this..and maybe a vid to go along with it?? You could keep repeating the words, but maybe change octaves and keys... you keep this up and you'll be appearing at the vatican!

Thanks Larry, yeah it's hard to go wrong with a classic! And yes, I do pop, some spiritual stuff, some country (havn't really posted that yet, but it comes...) I'm a complex person. In fact, my doctor told me I have more than one complex. And he hasn't even heard my music? I'm not sure how he knew this...

Smashing, baby! Take this with a grain of salt because I'm not a singer, but sounds great to me. Not sure where you'd take if from here, so I'll be interested in hearing the full thing. I've been listening a lot to Paul Simon's Graceland album lately, which has some beautiful thick harmonies so I really enjoyed hearing this, as short as it was.

Whoooo, Robby. That was nice. Do MORE!

The harmony resembles a Beatles cover of "Because" performed by Elliott Smith. You should seek that song out and hear his harmony composition. It's very inspiring.

Your vocal harmonies are well selected and performed. Very nice work!

    cool!!

I want to hear you do the Mezzo soprano part as well, although to do so you would have to become a castrato. Not Interested? Not for me either.

    Look forward to the completion

'I want to hear you do the Mezzo soprano part as well' oh it's in there, it's just down in the mix, again it's a scratch version of a verse to set everything :-) I'm going to put on my old choir robe, and gear up for the full song. I tried doing this at my last physical? But they kept asking me to disrobe? I guess they don't lyke hymns...

    Peace, a very short piece.

I guess its just a tease until you are able to unravel the whole piece out to its full length for our delectation and delight.

    Sounds impressive so far.

Fun stuff. I've been contemplating an acapella tune myself. Eventually I will talk myself into it.
