a new demo, first of 2018
https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/demo2-2018 a quick sesssion yesterday yielded this idea.... the arrangement and chord changes are pretty set, i jammed over that to glue it together. already have a vocal idea for this, it will probably be the first session i do with my new DAW setup (just got the pc today) all the cleaner guitar parts were the clean channel of the boogie pushed with a fulltone fatboost 3 and a Barber Tone Press. all the solo guitar parts were done thru the Barber DDSS pedal into the clean channel of the boogie. all guitar and bass parts captured with a Palmer PDI-09 DI box.

Your guitar playing is always outstanding Bats! I think that you have something going on with this. I particularly like the tempo changes that you are using. I can't imagine the vocals that you will be adding to this but I look forward to it. Great sound.

As always - brilliant. You sound like a lot of different players - but I can always hear a bit of Brian May. This is just pure excellence Gonzo.

Looking forward to the finished product Bat, which this sounds very close too.

Sounds awesome in the cans. So that's pure DI capture on the electric and bass? Damn, that sounds good. Beautiful piece of music, too.

thanks freddy.... it's pretty loose as it is, but i know where i'm going to go with it now, i thought it'd be cool to hear one of these in it's 'infant' stage..... plus, i was playing with more clean tones than usual, clean but with an edge... i think i need a bit more edge, but only a bit. working on that gain staging now..

hey markus, may was an influence, without a doubt. i don't hear anywhere in this where it shows, so i find it fascinating that you do hear it. thats cool! jamesg1213 Great stuff Rob, this should polish up into a real gem
eventually, i'll re-do everything, but until i get the vocals done, i wont know exactly where to tweak the arrangement,..... but it's a good start! Wookiee Looking forward to the finished product Bat, which this sounds very close too.
hey wookiee, thanks for listening! i may try to add some key elements to this.... now that i have my new daw setup, i have a lot of new instruments available i've never had before, a good excuse to experiment!

yes, pure DI capture. of course, it's a real rig, plenty loud, but rather than mess with the mics, i just threw a xlr on the palmer, and dialed it in, took about one minute! LOL and the bass, same thing, just cuz it was easy. this is my typical modus operendi when i'm writing demos. then later, i'll go to the trouble to meticulously mic stuff up, and split the bass, etc, when i'm going for final performances on finished songs. but, if i really dig the demo tracks, the di, i'll keep it. why not?

PROGGY EH?! around come circles, that'd be grounds for a fist fight. LOL i love me some prog... and it's a bit of a challenge, to bring it into a more straightforward song format, but i try to. Umphreys McGee... don't know that.... gonna dig into it. thnx
