adding a midi effect in the shared midi plugins in Sonar

I am adding a midi effect plugin to the shared midi effects plugin folder.  When I add it to the regular vst plugin folder, Sonar sees it right away.  When I add it to the shared midi folder, Sonar never sees when I do the "scan vst plugins".   anybody know how I can get this plugin to show up as a midi effect.   It's a thing called midilegato by xoxos.  any info appreciated, thanks.

The effect you have down loaded is a vst effect and not a Sonar MFX effect.

You do need to put in your VST path and not the shared midi folder.  FX in the shared midi folder are registered on the system at install time and are specifically designed to fit in the FX bin, no amount of scanning will get them to show up.

In order to get this type of Midi VST effect to work you have to insert it as an effect and make sure you turn on the option Enable midi output.  This will then allow to route the processed output to a synth.

Legato adjustments by the way are handled very well within Sonar itself, an easy way is to just select the midi clip you want to affect then from the menu select  Process/Length.... and input the note length you want.

Hi Jonbouy, thanks for your reply.   I learned how to set the plugin up from the link that Kev has placed up there.  Also, this is live playing that has to be legato playing against other tracks in Sonar.  So, I'm familiar with the tweaking of standing tracks, but just wasn't aware that the midi effects have to scanned are regular vst's.  But thanks a lot of good info in your reply there.
