Sorry, I don't think I understand your question. You ordered an amp sim somewhere and the trial period of MC6 has expired before you got that amp sim?? If this is the case - I don't think there's anything to do if you can't run another trial period.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Amplitude should still run after the trial period. In the demo mode, it will still run however, it puts some static in the audio stream every few seconds rendering it useless for recording. However... it came with MC6 and you, as the licensee of MC6 have the right to license Amplitude as well for free. You do not register it on the cakewalk web site like you did with MC6. You must open Amplitude and follow the instructions for registration. It involves going to the Amplitude server website and with a few clicks, you are legal and it will run unobstructed on your computer from that point forward.

If you are planning a new computer for music.... this is a good idea. Consider buying at the same time a nice audio interface with midi ports on it. Cost is about $100 to $300 depending on the manufacturer and the features. Cakewalk makes a few interfaces that are reasonably priced and work well. I have 2 music computers..... one is an off the shelf Dell which while it is still a music lappy, it also does other things, like surf the net. The other is a 100% music machine that is not internet connected and was a custom build. nothing beats having a dedicated music machine.....except having 2 of them.

In some cases the authorization is just a written code you can type in; in other cases, it's an actual file you can copy to a USB thumb drive and plug into the non-connected computer.

On my custom machine I have typed the codes in and I have run a Cat5 to the computer to let it register, and then I disconnect it. My DAW has no anti-virus software or firewall on it. And at 3 years old now... it still runs as fast as the day I first turned it on.

kmchiodo@optusnet.com.au thanks herb, i tried but failed as have many others, but its all good, i am loving the sound of my guitar[ibaneze les paul] going straight in.also pulling out my old stomp boxes to try.baz if you happen to have any old line 6 hardware lying around like a pod xt live you can download gearbox from line 6. once you install it copy the dlls from the vst line 6 folder into the Sonar default folder. Now you have an amp sim to get you buy until you can try some others If you have any Pod X3 device you can download pod farm for free and use that. Same thing copy the dlls uinto the default cakewalk vst folder. The Pod hardware will need to be plugged in USB in order to unlock the features. You will find gear box to be even with amplitude. Pod Farm will be better than both of those. Right now you can find some of those old Pod devices pretty cheap on craigs list. Everyone wants to upgrade to the HD series.

Cat 5 simply refers to the basic internet cable ..... yeah the computer has a bunch of USB ports on the front and the back. If I download a file from the net I use one of my other internet connected computers and run a virus checker on that file then load it to a USB stick to make the transfer. The USB stick gets a virus scan as well. USB is USB2

yeah... I use an external hard drive for back up purposes. All the samples and audio files are on an internal storage drive but I use the external as a backup
