I think, but I'm not sure, the "bass" eq is supposed to replicate the Ampeg SVT.
Not all Amplitube's emulations resemble the original amp much at all. For example, the Tweed Deluxe has two inputs (normal and bright) and two volume controls which interact. The Amplitube "model" only has one volume, which makes it nearly useless for getting 50s style overdrive blues or Neil Young type sounds out of it.
Other amplifiers have grafted on master volumes or gain controls the originals lacked.
If you want an early Marshall sound the best Amplitube model I've found is the JTM45 used with the 4x12 Marshall cab that emulates low wattage Celestions greenbacks, not the cab Amplitube points you at which if I remember rightly claims to be modelling Fane speakers.
