Well Bat , I feel like a moron even trying to offer you advice because everything you do is top notch and this ain't no exception. I would however like to hear a little more bottom end overall on the mix and IMO you could take the percussion and put it in the middle with some panning and make the track sound bigger. However if you do not do anything else to it ,it still sounds great. Edit: I am listening thru Yamaha ns10m's and they aren't known for their bottom end response.

I like this a lot. Probably my favorite song of yours that I've heard so far. I thought some of the harmonies were a bit strong in a few places, but that may have been your intention. I really like the interplay between guitars. Very cool tune!

appreciate that, lynn.... acoustic seems to capture my thing more than electric... teego Well Bat , I feel like a moron even trying to offer you advice because everything you do is top notch and this ain't no exception. hey teego, thanks for listening, man, it's always good to hear how this comes across to others, so it's always helpful, even if i don't agree with a critique, i at least can solidify my decisions and convince myself i did it right! LOL the bottom end is plenty, any more and i felt like i was adding artificial low end..... didn't feel right without a kick drum or something. i always go for maximum low end, short of mud and rattling windows! i do like the idea of panning, i might try that on the re-mix. this is off of my first album, that i will re-release because the original record label it was on, went tits up.

Easily one of my favorite songs I've heard on here! The guitars are all chorded very cleanly, the rhythm is intriguing, the vocals have harmonies that just work, the words are just enough to keep interest, and then come the jam sections. It's a great arrangement and a super throwback to Crosby Stills Nash and Batsbrew. I did find the ending a little unusual, it just kind of noodles into a stop, not a complaint just not what I was expecting which is OK by me. really nice job! cheers, -Tom

this song, and the other ones from the 'Trouble" album, will be getting a complete makeover, as soon as i finish the album i'm working on now. i'll redo this and the others, for an album "re-release". i like the vocal harmonies to be strong in certain spots, kinda the way the old CSN tunes were mixed. or fogelberg, eagles, queen, lots of harmony never hurt nobody! thanks for listening! emeraldsoul Easily one of my favorite songs I've heard on here! LOL it's a waltz, so the rhythm kinda stands out because of that fact alone.

Pretty song, sincere, convincing vocal, beautiful BG vox. Your production is right on as usual, balanced and airy. Anything I could say would be quibbling. Hope you're making money with this stuff.

Wow, that was really good. I liked everything about it. Just a strong performance and mix and definitely a little CNS channeling. Though the solos reminded me a little of Trevor Rabin during his time with Yes. Oh, and love the final Rain Song-ish chord.

MY TRACKING ROOM.... lol well, it's a downstairs basement bedroom, that has been gutted.... i have audimute sound blankets on most of the walls, with some drywall left exposed in specific places, that are in line with where i sit to record acoustic instruments. i can align my mics with the walls to get 'slapback' acoustics, or i can rotate the whole thing and take the wall right out of the equation. i have corners treated with combos of hollow rollers and large pieces of foam... i have aurelex-type angular foam in certain 'hot spots' for high end reflections, most of this is done strictly by 'line of sight' rules, and using my ears. mostly, it's simply sitting close to the mic, finding exactly the right sets of gains for both my preamps and my compressor.... and mostly, playing cleanly, exactly, with control, and having the mic pickup exactly what it sounds like right at that spot. i have 3 different condensers that i use, a ADK Hamburg, a Audio Technica 4033, and a Shure KSM44. typically, i don't bother with stereo mic setups for acoustics, i like to make a go at it with only one mic. i typically point it towards the neck/body joint... but sometimes i'll shift, using the headphones to dial in my position to the mic, and then i try not to move too much! LOL again..... i use either an expensive A Designs Audio MP-1 mic preamp, or a super cheap ART DPS mic preamp (kind of a rack version of the MPA but with a Digital Convertor built into it), and into a DBX MC-6, and into my maudio Audiophile 192 card. really basic, overall very cheap, works.

Thanks for the run down and it definitely does work! LOL I am long time believer in "it's all about performance" and know a guy who makes/sells old timey music albums tracked on Pro Audio 9, still (!) or at least last time I visited his studio. You certainly are a great proponent/example of that philosophy/approach! I prefer mono tracks of guitars and things that I want to really place specifically ( and maybe pan it's reverb opposite), too. I save "stereo" for the synth/pad textures. I envy your room option! We bought our house thinking we'd build a studio(s)(one for each of us), but since then have been thinking we'd like to move away from so much winter! LOL So, in the meantime I have a very little bedroom to track in and it's dead (really dead). I look forward to more of batsbrew! Michael
