another "new DAW" question

Hello you computer wizzards.
It's about time to uppgrade my daw from my old Tohsiba laptop. I've put together a list of components that I was thinking about, and I hope some of you can take a look and tell me if there is any "big problems" here.
I've got a firewire soundcard: ECHO audiofire that I want to use.

Be sure to get a B3 motherboard to avoid the SATA port problems of early P67 chipset motherboards

The MSI P67A-C45 (B3) uses a VIA Firewire chipset.
If you intend to use a Firewire interface I would suggest you'll need a Firewire card with a TI chipset or a different motherboard which already has a TI chipset like for example the Gigabyte GS P67A UD5 B3

is the VIA Firewire chipset totally unsuable, or can I "take a chance" and maybe be lucky?

From what I've heard a VIA chipset is a recipe for disaster with audio interfaces.
