    Hi, Geeve.
I cannot say anything bad about this because I have never seen one nor have I talked to anyone who has used one. But I would not trust it myself. there's a lot of equipment out there that I simply don't trust because of being made with cheap parts and hack engineering. As an example, I pretty much trust M-audio's quality, but I purchased an M-audio Audio buddy for my first preamp and it ended up being a real pain in my posterior!

I've forgotten, did I give you a link to my mixer recommendations? If not, here it is:

for just a little more ($60) you can get a Behringer Xenyx 802 and I'm confident it will do you well for a while. I could not say that for the Sumakaya you linked to above.

Thanks beagle. Does anyone know if a phono preamp would work. I'm being cheap cause my wife is about to kick my ass for the money I've spent over the past week Thanks guys

A phono preamp might work, but there are quality issuse associated with that. My understanding is that amps made for music reproduction such as home stereo equipment will "color" the signal, that particular amp was built to power certain speakers within certain environments, and frequencies ranges are pre adjusted for opimum sound quality with these and other parameters in mind at the engineering stage. Amps and pre amps made for recording purposes are designed for a clean, even amplification over the entire frequencey range, with no preconcieved notions as to speaker cabinets, room dynamics, etc. Also, there may be noise issues. In the short term, maybe you could get away with it, but eventually your ears would start to cry out for higher quality.
I do understand the wife thing, though. I had a credit card with my "Gambler's Choice Recording Systems" name on it, I even had the numbers memorized, and the ups guy knew my name...all that is a distant memory...heavy sigh...

This is the absolute cheapest preamp I'd ever go with. And this is not a mixer, it's a preamp only, so you can't monitor direct like you can with a mixer

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ART-Tube-MP-Studio-Mic-Preamp?sku=180581

the cheapest mixer I'd ever consider would be this:
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Xenyx-502-Mixer?sku=631262
and it doesn't have phantom power, so if you eventually got a mic that needed phantom power, you'd have to upgrade this mixer or buy a preamp like the one above in ADDITION to this mixer.

those are the cheapest things I'd recommend.

    Good to go!

Hey! As long as you're not going to be golfing anyway - you might as well just sell your clubs and buy MORE AUDIO EQUIPMENT!!!

My concerns would be that this mixer would have too much noise due to cheap pres, The behringers are better and there are far better than that but the price rises

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!
