any good software for internet collaboration

Is there any good software out there for real time or near real time recording collaboration  .  I want to do some work with friends in other parts of the country but it is much nicer in real time? I guess if not the only other way would be to share broadcast waves. I would be very thankful for any advice . I'm using sonar X1 producer on PC. thanks in advance

wrong forum for this topic.... this is the songs forum...

..... but, I see an ad on TV now for Time Warner (?) with 4 guys jamming on the net in real time. Maybe that's what you're looking for?
