any thoughts oh U-HE Zebra or Diva?

Think I might take a look at these, not that I need any more synths (or do I?)

Architecturally, they are very different (as you would expect for two instruments from the same vendor).  I love them both and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite.  Zebra is the more mature of the two, and as a result has more third party sounds available.  But DIVA has new preset libraries coming on the market almost weekly.  Zebra is a lot more complex and would take more time to master if you are a serious sound tweaker/designer.  The documentation for both is pretty good.  DIVA is a far less complex instrument, most features being straightforward enough not to need any documentation (although a few modulation options are a bit inscrutable).

Thanks, though what I should probably do is just watch the alchemy video's at Groove 3 this weekend, lol. Still, different synths have different "sounds" and sometimes one thing just works better than another. Also, I wouldn't say I'm a real big tweaker, I do the basic stuff with filters and envelopes, but still have a hard time with the crazier modualation. For example, I've just been left scratching my head many a time when trying to figure out Z3ta patches (or how to recreate them)

Diva requires a massive amount of CPU so be aware of that too. What synths have you got already?

Diva totally brought my aged system to its knees, so I couldn't consider it. Zebra, however, is much lighter and I was able to run a dozen instances no problem. It's very versatile, moderately easy to program (could stand some improvements in the UI, IMO) and there are a lot of free/cheap patch libraries available for it.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Diva is as demanding as a diva can be.  You should download the demo versions and make sure your system can handle her.  She does have several levels of CPU usage, actually four levels.  The highest is called "divine" and it will tax most systems.  The lightest should be usable on most computers.  I am still saving my pennies to purchase her as she is the minimoog type plugin that commands and demands my attention; she is a diva.

Diva is just beautyfull ..also you have diffrente "quality mod" drift low cpu to devine  ....so compose in drift mode , bounce at divine ...also chek the demo on your system ...

Consider also Tone2 , exellent support , great sounding synths , great patches , light on cpu , super stable  , just a key .. ...all fun ...

Rob papen's are also great ..and the mighty omnisphere and trillian if ya have money : the moog tribute is just wiked ! and the sytnhs in trillian are just a pure beauty ..

Computer system i7 920 12 gigs (upgrading to 24) ram, and WAY to much harddrive space Sythns Komplete 5 (really don't use much except battery) Omnishpere (like this) Z3ta (use most tracks) Alchemy - very versatile, but a bit scary Lush (just got this, computer seems to handle it fine) DCAM synth squad (used to be buggy, hopefully new 64 bit system fixed that, sounds good though) EastWest Silver, plat gold, plus Hollywood strings and brass on the way Superior drummer And of course I used to have Nexus 2, lol So I'm sure I don't NEED anymore synths.

So I demoed Tone2's rayblaster last night, and I have to admit, I'm a bit blown away. It sounded REALLY good. Though I didn't have enough time yet on it to really dig in, but it's probably a keeper. Diva also sounded very good, though I just might like the rayblaster better

Well, you're already dangerously close to have too many synths to learn, but if you're looking for more, add Synthmaster to the list of candidates.  This is a very feature-rich instrument.  The factory presets are a mixed bag, but there are some excellent third party offerings to be had at modest prices.  I'm especially fond of the vintage synths series by Nori Ubukata.

Too many synths to learn, nonsense :) On a different note, I did pick up the Rob Papen course on sound design http://www.robpapen.com/dvd-sound-design.html After all, a lot of the stuff applies to multiple synths. Maybe if I could really get sound design down, I could spend less time searching through presets to get something close to what I want, and just make what I want. Also, WHY don't line breaks show up in my posts, auuugh

So I picked up Rayplaster, it sounds amazing, and I was fooling through the presets and found some stuff that just mixed perfect with Diva. Plus love this policy "No risk of data loss You can easily create a backup of your download to an USB stick or CD. If you forgot this or lost your CD we personally take care of you and redeliver for free. The software will continue to work even in the unprobable case that Tone2 goes out of business."

Diva is godly but I really Love Zebra 2... the Dark Zebra, which was designed for Hans Z even better... Synthmaster is a STEEL... I have Tone 2's wannabe but am pretty disappointed.

Of all, I love Diva's rich sounds but Zebra can do it all too... it's got gobs of awesome stuff for it. including HZ's library

FWIW, and I think it says everything you need to know, HZ did the entire latest Batman movie sound track... using Dark Zebra

    Use the demos...

I really liked the demo of Diva and if you are familiar with subtractive synths there is not much of a learning curve. There is nothing earth shattering in the architecture but it does sound superb. Compared to Zebra it's a one trick pony but it does that trick very well indeed. I did not buy it in the end as I have a lot of subtractive, vintage sounding synths already, but Diva is one of the best.
