well much of the discussions mentioned monthly, January was the release so I'm guessing that the next new feature will be in February.

I wasn't aware the +10db was going to be a member feature.  Where did you read that?

The Cakewalk News Letter describes it as an option for Purchase. Sounds kinda cool as it should be available in the PC as well as Fx bin.

Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

Yes,  there will be a PC module as well as the usual VST, etc,..
But it's not being created by Cakewalk, so we're not going to get an answer here as to when it will be available.

Come on Karyn, the point stands. Cakewalk said it the new plug will be available late January, not the developer. Cakewalk said the new Sonar features will be monthly. It's Cakewalks commitment to their word that's being questioned, so the comment of the plug is a valid one.

. Sometimes I feel it isn't the Cakewalk forums, rather a bunch of constitutional lawyers arguing over spaghetti. The product has only been available for a couple of weeks.

The press release you pointed to is from a week ago,  so I guess (and I can only guess) that what Cakewalk have on their website is still perfectly accurate.  "Coming Soon"

I'd understand that point more if it was on the website a few months ago, then I'd understand some a delay, but if you report something a week before as going to be available in a week, you'd think they'd know it. It of course could still be released in the next day. If it isn't, then there marketing department, who make their press releases are questionable, as so would adverts saying for a product that releases would be monthly.

This is fairly simple logic, and shouldn't need spelling out. We shouldn't expect being picked up on it when we are pushed to spelling it out.

Just because I'm a host doesn't mean I'm not entitled to post my opinions, please get over the idea that hosts aren't forum members first. You made a statement not a question. The OP merely asked for an ETA, you are extending the question beyond all reasonable boundaries as is your right (whether this is still on topic or not is a grey area), that doesn't mean to say I don't have the right to say it's getting a little OTT just two weeks into a release.

@Scott

I'm sorry,  I don't understand the point you're trying to make.  The answer as best as we currently know it is "Coming Soon" which we've been informed means "the end of January".

Allowing for a margin of error, (it's not their product) that could have been last week or next week or today.  We don't know, and pushing it further gains nothing.

Take your time Cake, I'm still trying to understand and make the best use of the stuff that came in/with Platinum.  :)

Don't wait too long though.  I need at least one substantial new toy per month to keep my need for periodic attention shift satisfied.

BTW, when will Sonar Platinum 2.0 be released?
Will we continue to get bug fixes for Sonar Platinum 1.x after 2.0 is released?
What about new features?
Will 2.0 have a new drum map manger, or will that be Feb15?

((BWAHAHAHahahaha - I crack me up sometimes :) ))

Beyond reasonable boundaries? How did you define that. I have already explained how the PR issues are linked.
My statement was made following posts in addition to the OP's, to which Karyn responded.

You had nothing to add before yourself, but a snide remark.

Actually it wasn't being questioned in this thread until you wrote this. The OP merely asked for an ETA. Nobody was questioning anything else until you wrote that, which of course is your constitutional right to do. As is my right to point it out.

In regards to the plugs I never saw any commitment or promises. "Rumoured", a hint from Cakewalk... that is it.

And why are you going on about constitutional rights. We don't bang on about constitutional rights back home, and I have none in Vietnam.

If anything it's contractual rights we are interested in here, but I guess that less provocative of you to use.

The word to look out here for is "rumoured". I live in the UK so I understand about not having constitutional rights as well I though you might be American so I apologise for that .

I am simply disagreeing and not seeing any actual evidence with what you write, rather I think you have a tendency to exaggerate what people are writing. So I guess that makes me snide and provocative, and I guess that makes cakewalk have a commitment about third party plugins they have no control of.

I'm sorry but I'm simply disagreeing with your POV.

Re: any timelines for the "up next for members" features? 2015/01/30 09:22:28 (permalink)
So let's get this clear though.

The OP stated "is there a timeline for members features" - there isn't. Just coming soon.
The plugin is supposed to be available late January. It's not February yet. Little bit early for debate about Cakewalk commitments, and regardless this announcement appears to be nothing to do with Sonar membership (as per OP's question).

I'm from Kent, but that's not really relevant. You didnt need to mention it even if you thought was an American. I hadn't mentioned them, so you didn't need to repeatedly.

Threads are more than just the OP's comments, that what makes forum great, they are discussions.

Nothing was rumoured. I pointed out 2 times now it was stated.

My comments were following another posters who I agreed with, that another poster had contradicted. I just expanded the point, because I could see the relevance.

I've given evidnece of what I wrote. Your tendency is to wade in with snide remarks, this is my POV of you. I think the Alex of old, championing the cause for bug fixes was a much better than forum Mod Alex, who jumps in a make silly comments to break up some constructive flow of threads.

Good Morning,

I probably should just wave... There's an art to "splitting hairs".  Cakewalk did say coming in late January... that is in the release statement.. Splitting hairs defers to the fact that the statement did not say "Late January 2015. The OP asked for an ETA for "new features". The OP could have been thinking of the Boz +10Db with his ETA request but splitting hairs would have us to defer back to the same statement to see that the Boz was never mentioned nor was Cakewalk's integrity questioned... With all that said.. The emotional energy spent on this is a bit much.. going to take a nap.. thx

And enrapture me with pleasures galore...
Suddenly it could all quickly fade away...
But I'm not surprised any more...."

Re: any timelines for the "up next for members" features? 2015/01/30 09:37:17 (permalink)
The +10db plugin is not a member freebie. Andrew quite clearly stated that and is an issue entirely different to the monthly updates and releases.

For goodness sakes the product was only officially released on January 21st. I would expect that there will be an update and fixes released in February sometime. I don't understand why some folks have a problem with this. That's all we know and can reasonably speculate on the basis that Cakewalk have said there'll be monthly updates and bug fixes. Sheesh!

It's Cakewalks commitment to their word that's being questioned.

Don't get so dramatic. I wish more people actually worked at companies that provide a product, not just a service. Which do you want; an unfinished product that meets its deadline, or a finished product that is a little late? nothing is stopping you from making music with the plugs you have.

It does say late January, but it's not the end of January yet. The time to say it didn't arrive in late January would be February 1.

But, you can't win either way. When Cakewalk doesn't announce a release date precisely for this reason, then they're accused of being secretive and withholding information. If they do announce an approximate release date, then the expectation is that no delay is allowed, even if there was a record-setting blizzard in Boston that shut down shipping, traffic, stranded several Cakewalk employees in Anaheim after NAMM because flights were canceled, and prevented some Cakewalk employees in Boston from even making it into the office.

If you have a problem with record-setting blizzards disrupting day-to-day activities at Cakewalk (and there was no way that Cakewalk could have know that kind of blizzard would occur when the press release was written), that's something to take up with God but I doubt He cares all that much
