anybody heard of local control?

I'm powering Sonar Pro latest build>AI>Synth and on my synth I have local control off.  Now, Sonar doesn't transport>local control off>to sound we can hear.

Local Control refers to whether or not a given synthesizer's actual keyboard is connected to it triggering any internal sounds when keys are pressed on it.
 
So, if a given synthesizer has Local Control turned On, then playing any keys on it WOULD result in it internally generating sounds for those keys - with whatever sound is set to play.  This is the normal mode of operation you would want if you were running audio cables to a mixer on stage and wanted to hear the synth live.
 
Conversely, if Local Control is turned Off, then it is like severing the connection between the keys themselves and the synth from responding to any keys being pressed.  The REASON you would run in THIS fashion - Local Control Off, would be because IF you happen to have that synthesizer connected via USB or midi to your audio interface and are capturing midi, that you want to then be able to play back and have that synthesizer play its sounds based on that captures/recorded midi data, Local Control ON would result in a DOUBLING of the triggering of any notes played.  You would get  1 bite triggered internally from a key being pressed, and another note triggered by the midi connection sending a Note On event also back to the synthesizer.  You DON'T want that, soooooo, turning Local Off STOPS that doubled note from occurring.  The synthesizer will only respond to the single Note On MIDI event being sent to it, and it WON'T also have any internal notes additionally being triggered by the key being pressed.
 
So, Local On or Local Off simply connects or disconnects a given external synthesizer's actual keyboard keys to the internal sound generation of the synthesizer. 
 
When recording the AUDIO of that synth without also capturing the midi data, you would need Local On to be set.
 
When recording the Midi from keys pressed on that keyboard, to play sounds from the synthesizer and route that audio back into Sonar, you would need Local OFF, or you would have an unwanted and annoying doubling of every note.
