are these powered studio monitors a deal?
I found some 2X KRK Rokit 6 G2's and a KRK Rokit 10s Subwoofer with 2X 6' 1/4" TRS cables and 2X 16' XLR cables for sale for $600 Is this a good buy for me for my bedroom studio? I only have regular PC monitors, not studio quality. I don't do much heavy bass recording (singer songwriter) should I make an offer for just the 6's? What would they be worth? This $600 would stretch my budget a bit but if it's really a good deal, I"ll go for it. Thanks.

I hope the deal is for brand new equipment and not some second hand or refurbished stuff. Check prices with a google search? A 61/4" x 2 sub does not seem terribly impressive. I'd go for a 15". or just get some decent headphones?

Yes, that's a good deal. Over here un UK land the 6" G2's are £329 a pair and the Sub is £320 + cables extra. Converts to over $1000 total. The Sub WILL help your sound as long as you set the balance correctly. It's not about recording bass guitar, it's about getting an even frequency responce from the monitor system down to about 40 - 60 Hz mark, the 6" Rokits will start rolling off way above that point. In a small room where you're sitting very close to the speakers you may get away with it, but the Sub (correctly set up) will remove all doubt and greatly improve your mixes.

It is second hand. I do have decent headphones (Sennheiser HD 280 pro's) but I keep reading one should not ever mix with headphones, which is what i've been doing.

I have a Rokit 6 pair. They roll off at around 50hz, so there is a definite benefit to the sub woofer. In terms of good value, yeah, that's a great price. We could debate the finer points of this or that, but to be honest, if you currently only have standard computer speakers, this purchase will profoundly change your life.

Thanks guys. Yes I have decent but not great standard PC speakers with a 6" sub I think I'll offer $500 for the package.

If you can get that package new for $630 with the warranty, I would offer $400 for the used ones provided they are in good working order. You you could support your case with e-bay completed auction prices. The xlr cables are a nice bonus if their good quality, otherwise they're not adding much value. PrePal is a good place to research used gear prices. Just my $.02. Good Luck : ) Rocky

It would be $860 new without the cables. I think the price they're offering is pretty good.

Another satisfied Rockit user here... though without the sub. I like them! And I also have a pair of Sony HD280s, FWIW.
