assigning VS-Studio buttons in Sonar?
I see in manual: "By default, no function is assigned to the <,>, [VIEW], and [MARKER] buttons. Use the assign function of your DAW software to assign the desired function to these buttons" But I cannot find where in Sonar I can do it??? I want to assign or change assignment of the view/metronome button to Sonar metronome window for instance. thanks

Sorry for the late reply. Those manual instructions are for when you have the VS-100 DAW MODE set to "Other" or "Universal". When it is set to Sonar - those buttons are certainly assigned properly. I tinker with Studio One as a secondary DAW so I am familiar with this problem. I cannot find anywhere in Studio One to assign those buttons - but that is a Studio One problem. If you use the VS with Sonar, the buttons should already be assigned (make sure the VS-100 DAW mode is set to SONAR) EDIT: This post is an answer to your first post. As for your second post, you don't need to go that deep for the VS-100. Those instructions look as though they are for configuring an "unknown" device as a controller, so the VS-100 does not count.

kc2ine Hey Codamedia, thanks, but i thought I can change some buttons assignments for my VS-100, I know they are already assigned and works fine, but if I want to change something? no luck then? I was pretty sure the buttons you can change are on the LEFT side of the unit, using ACT. However - I've been wrong many times before. I'm going to look into this tonight, and if I find anything out I'll let you know.

Found something interesting on on DVD which comes with VS-Studio 100 . There is a folder named 'SONAR ACT XML FILES' and within that folder a file named 'VS100ACT.XML'You can open this file with Notepad or any other text editor (orXML-Editor) to see whats inside, its editable text. There are also brief text instructions in the same folder like 'ACTXML_Readme_EN.txt' explaining in english how to Copy V-STUDIO 100 ACT mappings to SONAR : 1. Open 'My Computer' or 'Computer' from the start menu or desktop. 2. Locate the V-STUDIO 100 DVD, right-click on it and select 'Explore'. 3. Locate the 'SONAR ACT XML FILES' folder and double click it to open it. 4. Locate the file named: 'VS100ACT.xml' 5. Right-click on the VS100ACT.xml file and choose 'Copy'. 6. Open the Run Prompt, hold down the Windows key (located between CTRL and ALT) and press R. 7. Type the following into the run prompt: %appdata%\Cakewalk\ACT Data 8. Click OK. 9. Right click inside the ACT Data folder that opens and choose 'Paste'. gonna experiment with this.

That looks like it would be great to create a custom layout, especially of the RIGHT side of the VS-100. From what I can see though - without getting into deep editing like that the only part of the VS that is assignable in Sonar is the Upper Left side. Your first post in this thread is about a line from the manual regarding other DAW's, not Sonar.

Do you know if it's possible to control tempo on that tempo window with VS100 knob??? it's very not convenient to click on those small +/- buttons.

I don't believe so. Not sure what version of Sonar you are running, but you can enter the tempo very quickly in Studio or Producer and I would think the other version should be the same. Just double click in the tempo window - then type in the value you want. That much faster than clicking on the buttons. Once I zero in on the speed I will inch it up or down with the value buttons. If I have misunderstood your problem I apologize

I'm running as so far Sonar VS, this is strip-down version of X1 as i see it, almost same interface. This version we got with the VS100. For me it's just ok at least for now. That tempo blue windows is really not convenient, you have to point out with mouse those tiny +/- buttons, it's crazy how they did it. Tap tempo was present in every hardware workstation I've been working before. You right I can enter the number from the keyboard but adjust it is a pain.
