audio blending not multitracking

Hey, I just upgraded to Sonar HomeStudio 4XL, thought it might solve this problem, but it hasn't - it is still with me

- believe it first happened when I changed my soundcard's bitrate from 16 to 24 (Soundblaster Live 5.1 card) - at least with Sonar hs4 I can change it back to 16, but it still doesn't fix this problem:

Doing an audio recording with microphone, 2nd track includes all audio of 1st track - it is not doing true multitracking.

Should be able to record separate tracks without 1st tracks' audio going onto the 2nd track!

I get this problem by doing this:
a. record audio on track 1. b.record audio on track 2. c.listen: even when track 1 is muted, you can hear it, because it has been automatically included on track 2.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks, EMatthew

    Ahh... a classic conundrum.

Check the control panel for the soundblaster. Change the recording input to the line in instead of "What U Hear".
