audio in
ITs been a few years since ive been active,so bare with me friends.THis is a general audio question: Im running into a presonus eureka and out to delta 1010: It seems spdif is the only viable way to control clipping in the track. If I use a mic input, coming out of the eureka, aparently the preamp is sending too much sigal into the preamp of the delta 1010. Can anyone comment on this.. THanks

Yeah, you don't want to go through two pre-amps. which inputs are you using on the 1010? Try something other than 1/2, I seem to remember something about the first two inputs being designed for mic input and the others are looking for a line input. That or there is something about going into the unit and changing some jumpers around to change the sensitivity of the inputs...sorry, I am just going from memory on this. someone will clarify my statements I am sure. Also, nothing wrong with using SPDIF, so I see no reason to want to avoid this.

It seems spdif is the only viable way to control clipping in the track. If I use a mic input Yuor too hot. There is no need to "only"use SPDIF to avoid clipping. Depending on your recoridng signal and what your reocridng, you may need to use a pad or use the line inputs of the 1010, not the mic pre's Cj

Doesn't the 1010 have a setting or jumper that lets you switch the inputs from mic to line level?

I HAVE ONE INPUT INTO MY PC USING A "CREATIVE" SOUND CARD. HOW CAN I GET 16 SEPERATE INPUTS AVAILABLE? (I CAN RECORD ONLY ONE TRACK AT A TIME). I NEED TO RECORD MULTIPLE, SEPERATE INPUTS. WHAT DEVICE ALLOWS ME TO DO THAT?

Hello, From what I'm looking at, there should be a +4/-10 switch on all of the 1/4in inputs and outputs on the back of the 1010. I would try switching it but I agree with the other guys that if you have the option of SPDIF then that would be the optimal way to go! Have fun, good luck

WHAT DEVICE ALLOWS ME TO DO THAT? The device that allows you to do that is a multi-channel audio interface. Plan on spending about a grand for 16 inputs. Alternatively, you can get a multi-channel USB mixer with S/PDIF outputs. Either way, you'll have to send that Creative card to the dustbin where it belongs.

Mike Trujillo [Cakewalk ] Hello, From what I'm looking at, there should be a +4/-10 switch on all of the 1/4in inputs and outputs on the back of the 1010. Have fun, good luck From what I remember the +4/-10 switch is on the software mixer that came with the XP drivers, which should be in your control panel if you have it.There are also separate controls for input and output levels. I think they did away with that with the Win.7 drivers. There are jumpers for the 1/2 inputs which have pres. You should be able to use one of the line inputs. The Eureka also has a master output control that may help.
