...back in the saddle...

...sadly, I don't get to record as much as I'd like to.  But, finally got a band going and we're working on a few demo tracks to splice together, get a FB page, etc... going.  We are working on a few songs right now...kinda scratch at this point...I still need to lay down a few more guitar tracks...just recorded the rhythm stuff and laid down my vocals last night.

Still pretty rough but getting happier with it.  Sonar X3 is so freckin' awesome.  I love how I can take so much time off and come right back in and be productive.  So easy to use.

I'm not sure how to share just the one song here - but the one I'm referring to is the Kissin' My Love.  Such a cool song - it's a Bill Withers cover...

Nice job!   I'm not familiar with the original but I like this version.   Cool groove happening, the parts fit well, and the vocals all sound great.   Perfect 70's "room" mix too.    I'm not sure I'd change much if anything myself.

Thanks man - I did redo the vocals...that was my scratch and it did turn out pretty good but I inadvertently tracked with a plug-in compressor on so when I was watching the fader it seemed the levels were good but I was clipping a little bit in several parts.  I do track quite often through my CraneSong Trakker...but on this take, I didn't.  Fortunately, the UA2192 handles clipping quite well - actually if you keep the meters in the yellow and occasionally bounce off the red it's as good as that unit can possibly sound.

Currently working on a couple others as well.  Having fun getting back into the tracking/mixing...start working on something and then you look at your watch and it's 3 hours later...time flies by.

Thanks again.  BTW, here's the Bill Withers original:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBhLh0BJAWA

Sounds really nice on my system (D5's and AKG 240 MKII's.
You got the highs and lows dialed in well. Good playing and singing.
Good groove.  Like the WAH and snare sound a lot. Cymbals came through nice.

Totally not my kind of music, but damn you sounded great.  Nice voice, good runs, I'm impressed.  The guitar work was sweet.  You have a nice touch.
