batter dish - move drums forward??

to bring drums forward or not?? that is the question.

I can hear a very muddy kick, a faint snare, a light ride and occasional cymbal hit

the drums not only need to be brought up, but they sound like you've recorded only the room mic and nothing on the kit itself.
