Sorry about that guys. Was having issues with sharing from a direct link or whatnot from Reverbnation to facebook and here. So just click on the link and then the first song:

    http://www.reverbnation.c...iew_source=profile_box

What can i do to improve the mix? It's a fairly simple song-not much lyrics, etc..

This is a pretty song with good vocals.  You seem to have very few elements in this arrangement, so it shouldn't be hard to mix.  Spread your vocals, and do your best to get everything sounding good on your monitors.  Test on a number of different systems, and just know that you're most of the way there, now.

    All the best,

    Thanks Lynn.

Somethings still screwed up with the song though. It's not supposed to sound like what you hear over at Reverbnation. I'm probably just gonna take the song off sometime, if they don't resolve it.

It sounded good when I first uploaded it and then it started sounding very echo-ish and reverby. And that's not the way it's supposed to sound. The song should be very clear and without too much ambience. When I play it on reverbnation now it sounds like it's in a big hall and that's not the way I recorded it or mixed it down. So I don't think your hearing how it should sound. Frustrating. Not sure if they changed it from my Mp3 quality at 320 kbs to something lousy or what's going on there.

I usually just mix down on my yamaha headphones. I have a pair of M-audio studio monitors, but they aren't that great and I don't like to use them.

I need to figure out why it's changing the song quality. It went from sounding like a wave recording to a recording on a voice recorder sort of junk. argghhhh. Not cool.

Maybe I can just put a wave quality file on Myspace and let you hear that one. You'd hear a big difference and if they are changing the file to lesser quality, maybe it won't matter as much if it's in wave.

It should just be really clear. The guitar shouldn't start out with an ambient echo-ey sound. they should be clean. It doesn't sound right on Reverbnation. Gonna have to change it out.

Not sure what the deal is. Maybe it's okay.

But it seemed like it sounded fuzzy or muddy to me for some reason before. Maybe I'm losing my mind. I'm really not sure... :)

I put a wav. file over at Myspace and listened. Maybe the differences in the volume levels affected the way I was hearing it or perceiving it. Not sure.

One thing I've noticed on my computer is that in the windows media player or a setting-they have this enhanced sound format or something that's weird. Not sure if anyone else has noticed that before, but if you have a crappy sound from say a video camera with a cheap mic and play it with a newer windows media player-it seems like it can enhance the poor quality sound in ways.

But the downside I noticed is when I played a really nice song I just recorded-very clearly in Sonar-it (windows media player) takes that piece and makes it I don't know-poor sounding-like indistinct I guess. Hard to describe. Well, actually it almost makes it lo-fi in ways or something where it takes some of the clarity out.

So I wonder if reverb or myspace uses any filter or sound enhancing software to try and smooth out songs or something, cuz it didn't sound right to me for some reason. Struck me weird, as the other songs I've put on there have sounded pretty clear and distinct.

This mix on ReverbNation sounded good to me. I will only say (as a matter of taste) the center guitar gets a bit grating after a while. Again, just a preference thing as I suspect you feel that is the focal instrument of the song.

    Okay. Got it figured out.

I was paying before on the site and it allowed me to have better quality songs apparently. Now they reduce it to 128KBPS. I had it already reduced from wav. file to around 6 MB MP3 at 320 kbps. Once they reduced it again, well-it's just too much. Took away a good deal of clarity from the piece.

maybe I should just pay the silly appx. $6 per month. I want people to hear my music clearly and well.

Anyway, thanks Bapu. I suppose it gets a bit repetitious. I tried to break it up with that bridge area/changeup. it stays in the same chord progression, but different lead.

It does sound better when they don't reduce the song further. I knew there was something jacked up and it was getting on my nerves. It sounds okay on Reverbnation, but not as good as it does when I just play it on the computer in windows MediaPlayer-as is.

Why dont you try with SoundCloud? It had worked find for me the only thing is that it appear to make a clear song a little to duller compared to the DAW. I smiled when you mentioned Beatles and gottye in the same meananing as "sounds like" but yes I can hear some similarities - you have a good voice a pair of guitars that didn't follow each other in the beginning but where are the hook? Its there around the corner somewhere please find it. Nice piece of music anyway. Work on with it All the best Eko
