For BeyondCakewalk, I think there should be a sub-section for Sonar Lifetime subscribers.
Why???  Just to name it "To Infinity and BEYOND"

Yeah, yeah. I'll get on it (lol... interesdasting reverseninjasurprise NagBap there). Just had some urgent doctorB stuff (which was only partially  successful. I am actually considering writing a letter/article to CBC's GoPublic about the catastrophic healthcare crisis in this town and how some draconian paranoiac policies seem to be driving doctors away from the city.

I did not realize how bad things had gotten and now I am completely fizzuxorred.

Well, there are hosting costs as well as yearly fees for the forum software.

I highly suspect that Gibson will continue to pay those costs upon expiration dates.

The Cakewalk store and main product pages are shut down. Finger it out from there Beebzo.

Re: beyondcakewalk.com is live 2017/11/23 19:42:00 (permalink)
I assume you meant to say will NOT continue to pay after expiration.

Which brings me to my next query/suggestion (something I've pretty much had in the back of my mind for years now in case they wanted to kill the forum for whatever reason).

I have a BUTTLOAD of bookmarks from this site linking to all sorts of useful stuff posted by various, hyper intelligent folks that I reference quite often and even MORE frequently google search the forum for specific topics I'm trying to learn about (yanno... to actually DO stuff on my shiny lightbox).

I know there is google cache but I am not certain a) how that works and b) how it will work in the future.

So I always figured if it came down to it that the Bakers could just hand over a copy of the forum archive files (I mean it's saved somewhere, right?) and then we can see if someone wants to get the software. load the files up and just keep the bugger live. Of course contributions from those who want to see this happen would sustain it.

OR they just hand over the forum archive file thingie to Baps/craigB and they can be an inactive sticky/resource for this new site (and/or any others that pop up).

Essentially this entire forum (which is a MASSIVE resource) cannot simply disappear. It's like a crazy companion guide to the manual.

But one the COMMUNITY created pretty much ALL the content for (and some of us worked DAMNED hard to make this the resource it is). I'd say the content belongs to us and should be relinquished so the SONAR/Cakewalk community can make sure it remains on full display in whatever corners of the internet said SONAR/Cakewalk mushrooms up.

GIVE US THE ARCHIVES!!!

Already been down that road. As of now it's a dead end. Mainly due to the fact that may IDs are tied to Cakewalk Accounts. Those Accounts will likely stay alive/active for many moons to come. Regardless if Cakewalk fully ceases to exist.

WRT to Accounts, IMO, at some point we as license holders may be given an activation free license/file to reinstall the software should the need arise.

Okay, so if that's the case shut down all forum accounts and dissacociate them with the forum archives. Just a snapshot of the content that can be hosted somewhere and remaining viewable/searchable via google/linkable).

I don't know if that is possible. Then us forum users can create our own communities as needed (doods... we're BOUTIQUE now!) and continue to spread the GOSPEL (aka: what we know about the program) via links from the original archives/manuals/etc.

I also want to know where scook is gonna land. If anywhere. Cripes what a loss that would be.

Alright. Well we're gonna have to try to contact the boys in whatever way we can.

My guy has always been Andrew Rossa. We got into a little slapfight that one time (X2 days) and he's been my main homeslizzle since.

If someone is on good terms with Noel though please contact him about this (releasing a snapshot of the forum archives for online reference purposes). I would but I think I annoy him.

'Tis a matter of time before this forum goes Error 404, Beeps. That's why Ed set up beyondcakewalk so quickly. I suggest if you've bookmarked a load of stuff here that you need, you best get alt-prntscrn-ing and save it all.

I already did contact Noel. He basically said no way. Remember this site (and it's contents) are the property of Gibson, Not Cakewalk per se.
