bg-vocal sample.. how is this done?

I find this background pretty amazing..
how is this done ?
I asume those are samples during a live performance.
nice stereo spread, seems like the left side is a bit delayed,..
hard to tell if it's only one vocal.. or two.. or more ?
it has some kind of reverbish / synth - style..
anyone has an idea.. how to get close to these kinds of background-vocals?

That sounds like lots of overdubs to me. Each singer re-singing his or her own part two or even three times. Sometimes they'll have different singers sing each others' overdubs to get an even broader coverage of the full spectrum, the idea being to end up with a wash of sound that's almost like bandpassed white noise.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Bit's right, Frank.

About 4 layers of each part, split 2 left and 2 right. You'll also probably want to get aggressive with the high pass filter to help them sit under the lead vocal like that. PLUS....if you add a delay with a fairly early return and a lot of regen, but with lots of high end sparkle in it, it helps. You have to play with the return time and blend the delay so that you don't really hear it as a delay, but as a reverb instead.

Works for me all the time. Hope that helps.

Stack, stack and stack...Use delay and chorus effects...Bounce numerous tracks down to one and then apply EQ (band pass) effects and reverb (one song, 10CC's "I'm Not In Love") comes to mind here...
