big thumbs down to CME-U80

thanks to all of you who contributed to my question about soft synth garble.  turned out it was the cme u80.  after thinking it was just the widi receiver and trying a hard wire usb connection i realized it was the actuall controller.  went on line for a new driver... no longer supported and hadn't been since 06.  the product came out in 05.    then i tried to load a beta version of their firmware... that was a joke.  then i went on their forum.... if you want some interesting reading go there.  i've never heard so  much hatred in a forum since... well i've never.  i'm sure there are some xp users out their getting along just fine with cme but if you would like to keep using it i don't suggest you update or buy a new rig that uses  vista or 7.... forget it.  mine is sitting on the floor behind my new yamaha kx8  waiting to go back to the supplier...  it's a shame... for a company that makes keys for keyboards you'd think they would have their @#$% togeather?  big thumbs down CME.

I got a VX8 about a year or so ago and ended up sending it back because CME couldn't and still doesn't have their  act together. I ended up getting the Yamaha KX8 as well and never loked back. The only nice thing about the VX was the metal casing, but never understood why they used particleboard on the bottom with such a heavy duty top.

You're telling me. I still do hope they get their act together, but even the new updates, if you can call them that, have been causing more problems than they fix.

They could solve it all by making the boards software open source and letting programmers who know what they are doing fix it, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
