bigger monitor helps

I had an older monitor with a lower 4:3 resolution.  Folks here convinced me I needed to move into the 21st century and get something vaguely current.  I popped for a $129 ViewSonic VA2112M 22" LED monitor on Amazon which takes me to 1920x1080.  This makes SONAR X1 much more manageable.  Well worth the dough.  And also I set my Task Bar to autohide to give me a bit more vertical real estate.

As soon as you have another $129 handy, buy another one! Having two side by side feels luxurious....you could even have the second one way over to the side if you want to retain a short distance between your monitors. I find it's great to use the 2nd monitor for the multidock and open plugin windows. Full screen console FTW....

I bought a 30" Dell monitor 5 years ago, and still use and love it today. It would have been a nice touch-screen, but it's excellent with a mouse. In early reviews, it's the first computer monitor that the reviewers had to actually turn their heads to see the left or right side. Anything bigger, and my monitors would be covered up.

However, as a touch-screen deployment, I think it would be dandy to have the Console View to be exactly like a real large-console board. In other words, 1 inch = 1 inch. If you have 32 channels, you'd have to scroll (swipe) the screen left and right to see them all, much like grabbing the scribble pad on an old console and literally rolling your chair down to the other end! If you want to see the Gain settings, you swipe the screen down to "pull" yourself up to the top of the board. Get it? Like having a real-life-size SSL console, but you can make it actual size, and merely move your screen around on top of your board by swipe movements.
If you want to see the whole board, you can zoom out.

2 monitors with Sonar is a must.  I started last year learning Sonar with only 1 monitor and kept getting lost.  upgraded to dual screen and things just make more sence when you can see all.

I'm not gunna touch the 4 inch joke, I'll just leave that one alone :P

I agree, a 2nd monitor makes a HUGE differrence!!!! Imagine, track view on one, and console view on the other, with various items in the tabs behind the console view..YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probabky a stupd questions, bit I had a 32" lcd tv and used a monitor, woud the screen space be same just proportionatly larger, or could I have the same size images with addtional screen real estate???

You may actually lose screen space with the 32" TV.  That's probably a 720P screen so at best you'll get 1366X768 resolution on that, on par with the typical cheap laptop screen.  That would just make everything huge, without helping you fit anything on the screen.

I'm using 2 monitors side by side, with a 37" Flat screen TV as a 3rd over a bit to the right side. It's great to put VSTs & things on the 3rd one, and drag them back over for fine tuning at any time.

It also works great to see from a bit of a distance when I'm sitting at my V-drums.
