bit conversion question

Hi everybody. Hey I'm wondering... In a project I will usually record the tracks at 24 bit however I'd like to add an mp3 track from outside. Should I open that up and save it as a 24 bit file?
Or is that something that Sonar just automatically handles? Thanks!

    Sonar converts when it imports.
