buzzer sound before recording starts

OKay this seems very odd to me.  All of the sudden, when I click record to sing a vocal, there is a loud buzzer like a door bell before the recording starts.  Never happened before.  Any thoughts or am I going insane?

Ugh... that doesn't sound good. A piece hardware might be frying out on you. Does it lag for a second before the timeline starts moving?

If I start at measure 1 it's fine.  If I start at measure 2 at a tempo change I get the buzzer.  Very odd.  I thought.  computer is new and it's never happened before.

So it is at the same spot every time on the same track? If so make sure you didn't record something or insert a clip you didn't mean to at that spot. That means look at ALL your tracks for the noise as well as the track you are trying to record to. Sometimes they will hide under the new clip so drag the start of the clip away to see what's under it. For some reason X1 doesn't automatically mute tracks underneath the top track (which I learned the hard way) and you have to either delete them or right click and mute them. Very strange. BTW I'm just guessing here.

It might help if you could post up your new computer's specs.

I'm interested in this topic as I have the same problem on my new Win7x64 machine running X1d Expanded.  I'd describe the noise as a loud zipper, or the motorboating noise that used to get mentioned around here quite a lot.  It happens at the start of recording or playback, and often just after recording or playback is finished.  Strangely, all is okay during playback.  It only happens on a few new projects in X1 - my old 8.5 projects are fine.

My guess is a rogue plugin, but I'm interested to see what other suggestions people come up with.
