calypso moon

Hi, here's a tune I've been working on. Hopefully it's done but, ya' never know! If you're so inclined, give it a listen. All comments, criticism, complaints, etc. welcome!

Update: Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen and leave a comment. Based on the comments, I've decreased the overall loudness and lowered the drums a bit. Link to new mix is below. I appreciate your ears and help

Tune is cool, panning is pretty fun, and nice job! Very creditable! That's some very tasteful guitar soloing. The piece has a 90's Northern Exposure vibe, loved that show.

The very first guitar strum, like 5 seconds in, gets crackly like you are clipping a tad. That should be an easy fix. Maybe the bass could come up a bit more? Pretty good mix.

    cheers,

That's very nice indeed Gary, lovely playing. Liking those octave runs at about 2:45, cool stuff. Quite cheered me up that has!

Really cool piece of music, Gary, and excellently played too I might add.  Mix feels pretty tight.  I thought the snare seemed just a hair loud, but I was listening on my pc speakers, so you should consider that too.

I am hearing touches of Northern Exposure too, sounds nice here though loud had to turn it right down.

daryl1968 - Thank you, Daryl! I appreciate the listen and positive comments.
emeraldsoul - Hi Tom, thanks for the listen and your suggestions. I'm not hearing any distortion in the intro, though. The tune is kinda loud (as has been pointed out by Wookie), so I'm wondering if that could have anything to do with what you're hearing. At any rate I'm going to bring the loudness down so maybe that will help. Thanks again!
james1213 - Hi James. Thanks for the positive guitar comments, glad the tune was able to cheer you up!
    synkrotron - Thank you, Andy!
dcumpian - Thanks very much, Dan! I appreciate the positive comments and, having heard your music, I'm pretty sure you play as well as I do, but that's setting the bar kinda low
FreeEarCandy - Thanks, Dean! Glad you liked the tune and guitar playing.
Lynn - Thanks for listening and taking the time to leave a comment, Lynn. Now I'm hungry for some jerk chicken
philz - Hi Phil! Thanks for listening, glad you liked the tune. I appreciate the comment about the snare. In the past I've often felt like the drums in my mixes kind of get lost so I've been really trying to keep them up front as much as possible...I may have gotten a little carried away I'll have to go back and listen a little more objectively and maybe make some adjustments. Thanks again.
wookiee - Hi John. Thanks for listening and commenting. You're right about the loudness, I'll definitely have to fix that. Tom (emeraldsoul) also mentioned Northern Exposure. The only thing I remember about the theme song from that show is that I liked it...a lot so it's completely possible that I borrowed, stole or otherwise violated someone's copyright with this tune. It wouldn't be the first time
biodiode Hi Adrian. Thanks for the positive comments on the guitar playing. Glad the tune put a smile on your face!

    Completely brightened my day.

It certainly has that island vibe happening, but with some melodic lines and changes that are just a bit beyond that...    Loved your guitar playing too; clean, interesting, and happy.
