can i still use cosm button without guitar tracks 4 ? ? ? ?

just picked up the v-studio 20..im really liking it alot.one thing im wondering about is the cosm effects that come with it.
another user on the forum told me not use the daw(guitar tracks 4) that comes with it because it tends to not play nice with x1.i have no problem with that because i think x1 is superior to guitatar tracks.
but i would like to take advantage of the effect in the cosm module.the boss effects.
can i just load the guitar cosm effects and not guitar tracks?
thank you very much for your help..any other vs-20 users out there wanna exchange some user info im up for that as well.its the way it should be..one big v-studio family.he he.

ps.what is the editor on the download cd?

Yes you can use the button, with will open the editor, the editor is where you create patches, load patches and route the signal, I really like the VS-20 editor you can also open it by going to the utilities menu in X1 and click on the VS-20 there to open it, but always use the buttion on the VS-20.

I'm glad other people are asking the questions I had, saves me some typing. :)

I have a Focusrite Saffire 6 right now, and I'm really happy with it, but I'm thinking about using the V 20 as a control surface.

    Hi,
The editor on the CD would be the COSM v-20 editor [amps effects & presets].
I have found that COSM works with all the Cakewalk DAWS versions, have not tried any others. Although as mentioned by Juan always open it after loading your DAW and use the button on the V-20.

I love my V-20 and COSM, possibly does sound better using another DAW rather than Guitar Tracks but it's only marginal, well to my ears anyway.

I would buy another if it broke,  certainly the best bit of kit I have purchased.  It would have been better if you could control PANNING & MUTE on the V-20 rather than have to grab the mouse and revert to the DAW to adjust them.

There is a thread in the forum that gives a link to 50 great cosm presets but I have not seen any postings of anyones own tone presets as yet.  Be great to hear some.

    Regards. giffy

finny you say that..because i started out with the saffire 6 usb and bought the vs 20 to use as a control surface...i ended up selling the saffire and just use the vs20 for everything..its 2.0 and the saffire is 1.1 usb..i find the vs20 react faster and the controls are flawless i even uninstalled a patch for the vs20 cause it was doing any good...bottomline..vs 20...keeper..best interface ive used yet.only downside...theres no midi..so i had to get an m audio midi sport usb midi addpt.
