can we create combinations sounds?

hello friends...is it possible to use  vsti instuments  and combine 2 or more sound together?
like you would do on a keyboard or workstation?
example i have some nice piano sound with some good  strings sound ,i would like to put them together and just have fun with it..................................thank you Tony C

    which vsti instruments do you use/have to create these sounds?  that's going to be imperative to know to tell you how to create them in sonar.

    Yes. 
    If you have an external keyboard you can set it to control 2 or more softsynths and layer sounds that way. 
    You could create a MIDI track and clone it and assign each clone to a different softsynth. You can't assign a MIDI track to more than one softsynth at a time. 
    You could use a softsynth like Dimension Pro that allows you to load multiple elements. Dimension Pro has some sounds that are already layered, like a Piano with Strings and I believe you can control the mix of the 2 sounds using the Modwheel.

    Or you can set the Inputs of several MIDI tracks to the same channel (or Omni if you prefer). This way you can trigger multiple synths simultaneously.

    ok guys thank you...i see that there is few different wasy....good !!!i am going to try and see ...
    vsti used for now are...the ones that came with hs7 and i have z3ta...as well some free ones found on the net.....Thank you again
