can you change a 96khz project to a 48khz project?
If i previously set up a project and recorded a few tracks at a sample rate of 96, is there an easy way to convert the entire project to 48 or 44.1, and keep going with the project from there? Thanks, Chris

Unfortunately, SONAR does not allow changing the sample rate of an existing project. The only way to do this is to export the tracks as 48kHz WAV files, and import them into a new project established with that clock rate.

@Brundlefly: Bummer indeed, but thank you for the quick reply and suggestion on how to accomplish it. Much appreciated.

Creating a rapid way of changing sample rates between projects should be something considered for future releases of Sonar.

Another option too is to consolidate and export the whole session at 96KHz. Set up a new session at the lower sample rate and import all the tracks. Sonar does a very fast sample rate conversion on the way in.

I did this this once, I converted the sample rate in all the audio files in a project with R8brain and then reopened the project in Sonar. Can't remember if I had to change anything in options>audio for the project though.

It might be possible to do this if you delete all the audio clips from the project, change the sample rate of the original files (which will be unaffected by deleting them from the project), and then re-import the re-sampled audio. SONAR will not let you change a project's sample rate with existing audio clips in place. It might be worth trying this if the project is in an advanced state with lots of tracks, soft synths, effects and preliminary mix levels already set.

I have on a few occasions changed the sample rate via Sound Forge's batch process. I never had to change anything in the project after reopening it. If I am not mistaken it is the sample that one has for the hardware that would need to be changed. This is done in the audio options. But if, say, you have your setup set to say 44.1 and you have received a project of say 48 then the process I outlined above will work on it nicely.

brundlefly It might be possible to do this if you delete all the audio clips from the project,........................, and then re-import the re-sampled audio. Didn't have to do that. I just converted and re-opened.
