can't import an mp3 into a 24 bit project?

I get an error that it's not compatible, do I have to convert it first or can X1 really not do this?

I have done this. Import MP3 into a 24 bit project. No issues.

Do you have the MP3 encoder from CW for X1?

I've run in to this too. You have to convert it to a .wav first.

I'd have to say you more than likely 100% correct. :)

Converting to wav gets you around that. ;)

X1 won't even do that...I tried to open it in a new project and it didn't see it on the desktop.
My audio was set to 24 bit so I changed it to 16 bit and X1 sees it (yay!) but when I try to open it I get an error stating "out of memory" (with 6.5 GB available)....so I open and convert in Vegas 10 no problem.
Thanks for putting me on the right path though guys, you did help me workaround the issue.
