Are you working with audio or MIDI? If audio, you need to specify the key under the Project menu and the audio needs to be a Groove Clip and have a native pitch specified in the clip metadata to follow pitch change markers. Decent loop libraries with Acidized files (same format as Groove Clip) will specify a native pitch in the metadata except for drum loops, because you don't want the pitch to change. Note that REX files will stretch to tempo but not follow pitch changes. These need to be saved as Groove Clips or bounced to themselves to become standard WAV files, after which you can transpose manually. If MIDI, AFAIK MIDI does not follow pitch markers. You need to transpose MIDI clips manually.

What result are you expecting? Key changes basically affect only the display if notation in the Staff view. If you're expecting to hear a transposition of audio or MIDI, you would need to be entering pitch markers (for groove clips) or a per-track Key Offset for MIDI.

I've always wondered about this, if you have a clip from one of the audio library in Sonar, and use say the Loopmaster group, and use one of the clips that lasts a couple of bars, and I think, I like that bass sound, I want to use that in my song, but the clip has been recorded in A and D, and I want to loop it for the full song, and the song obviously has a lot more chord changes, is it possible to do this ? Hope this makes sense ! John

If they're MIDI Groove Clips and Follow Pitch is checked and there's a Reference Note, they follow pitch markers just fine here. -Susan

Thanks Susan, I stand corrected. I use that feature with MIDI clips so rarely I forgot it existed.

I think post #2 answers your question.

Thanks for all the info Sonar buds. Between your suggestions and playing around I figured it out. Ultimately it was a combination of adjustments depending on what format my different tracks/clips were. In some cases I needed to bounce to a clip, in other cases stretch and adjust pitch, in other cases check of the clip to change with the key changer tab, in other cases a combination of more than one of these. Tricky stuff as there are so many variables. there should be an easier way to change pitch or transpose a section of song that works across the board (regardless of clip type). Maybe one day. Thanks again.

Process > Transpose, and check the Transpose Audio box.
