changing mult ouputs at the same time
I often download midi file songs. IN addition to other instrument tracks, one might have about 6 tracks each dedicated to different drum sounds. If I want to assign another synth to these percussion sounds, as I often like to do, I have to go into each track and change 4 different parameters, including output, MIDI number, sound bank and sound. Is there a way to do all of these 5 or 6 tracks together, when i want to change all to the same synth. Thanks. LNovik

Have you tried to select all related tracks, hold ctrl while changing a paramenter? This method works for just about anything you want to do to more than one track at a time. Not sure this would work with "the sound" but you may be able to clone tracks with those properties and then drag the mide files to those tracks.

Drag all the MIDI tracks to one track. Insert drum synth with the option "All Synth Outputs" enabled. Set MIDI track output to drum synth.

I DID try to hold the CTL key down while making these changes, though it didn't work. Dragging all the drum tracks into one track sounds like a good idea. I haven't drags tracks before. I assume I drag on the right side of the screen (with the MIDI data), as opposed to the on the left where the tracks are named. Also, I assume I just left click on a track I want to move and while holding down, I try to move either up or down in an as vertical path that I can (so that they'll match up.) I guess I could create another MIDI track so that if there is a problem or I later want to edit, it might be easier to have all the original, though muted, tracks at my disposal. Sound right? Thanks for your time. LNovik

Best way to move tracks is to zoom in a little , enable snap to grid for whole or half , slip edit all tracks to Zero. Then drag them to the new location paying attention to make sure they stay on the grid. Yes you make the drag in the track view ( right hand ) an X will show when you left click and hold to drag.

I tried this myself the other day, with SONAR Home Studio 6. Apparently, there is a limit to how many clips you can drag into another track, which is 3 in my case. If I dragged a 4th clip into the track, one of the other ones dropped out. However, I was able to copy and paste all of the clips into 1 track, and they then played though my synths. I used Studio Instrument Drums and Session Drummer 2.

I have X3 Producer. I don't know what Johnny V means when he says "slip edit all tracks to zero." I can't seem to drag clips from 1 track to another. However, I will try this last suggestion of copying and pasting clips into one new track. LNovik

I'm having trouble aligning them up. That is, one track starts a bit after the other--even though I'm on a 1 full note snap to grid. LNovik

When copying/pasting, I usually check the Clip Properties for the exact time the clip starts. Write it down if necessary, then paste it at the same time. This whole thing may end up being more complicated than just changing the outputs.

Slip editing is when you grab the leading edge of any clip, audio or midi and pull it back and forth. By pulling the leading edge to zero it stops the clip from moving in that direction so one less thing to go wrong. That's why I said to zoom in a bit so as to make sure the track doen't move ahead or back. I always slip edit audio tracks to the very moment sound starts to eliminate unwanted noise. Slip editing is cool because your not deleting anything. Your just hidding it or exposing it.

LENovik ...I have to go into each track and change 4 different parameters, including output...
Track outputs can be selected from the "Tracks" menu. Select the tracks first and from the menu choose "Selected Track Outputs".

to move a clip to a different track and keep the same time just hold shift before you drop the track
