channel tools causes drop out

I just tried channel tools and when I hit play it runs for about a second and then drops out. If I don't have this engaged, it runs just fine. My project has 1 wav audio file... nothing else. What could I look for to get this working? Here are some system specs. Thanks.

win xp sp2
HP quad xeon 2.33 ghz
3 gb ram
nvidia quadro fx 1500
tascam fw1082
OS drive: 45 gb
Audio drive: 400 gb

I asked about this last week on the forum and go no response. so I logged an incident with Cakewalk Support. Standard reply of try MME driver mode (I'll have to check if the EMU 1820M even supports this, as I believe it is ASIO only), delete the AUD.INI file, change the driver mode back and restart. I haven't had the chance to do all of this but i doubt it will resolve the issue. They pointed me to a file on how to setup my hardware interface... I've been using the 1820M for years and it works fine under Sonar 8 (and multiple previous releases), except when Channel Tools is inserted on a track. The clue I found was that as soon as I hit play I would get a horrible noise and then dropout and the track with Channel Tools inserted would peg the meter. Removing Channel Tools solves the problem.

Maybe more folks will report this problem and we can get it patched.

with an Emu card, that makes no sence what so ever. You use the Emu drivers that are found at the emu's web site. Either WDM or ASIO. Im pretty sure ASIO is your better bet. Try ajusting your buffers/latency

CJ - Yeah I agree it amakes no sense. I am using the EMU ASIO drivers. I've tried several things including buffers and latency. I can reproduce this time an time again. It is a Channel Tools problem I'm convinced. Never does it when Channel Tools is not present and Always does it when Channel Tools is present. And the track that Channel Tools is inserted on pegs the meter and audio drops out upon hitting play.

Same problem here with "Channel Tools" plug-in. I will report an incident to Cakewalk. Here is what happened to me:
Mixing a song: added channel tools to a few tracks to put some stereo width on mono recorded guit and key tracks. At this point everything is fine. It plays fine. I was able to export it to a stereo file. The next day I opened the project to tweak the mix and when I click the play button both CPU meters hit the red. I get an ugly click out the monitors and the red drop-out indicator displays. Subsequent clicking on the play button yields the same. The project is hosed and won't play. I tried it in Sonar 7 with the "Channel Tools" plugs inserted and it still doesn't play. I tried down-grading my audio hardware driver (Presonus FireStudio) to the previous version and no change. I finally narrowed it down the the "Channel Tools" plug-in. Removing all instances of this plug from the project and it plays fine. Add them back in and the project won't play. I also tried removing all the other plugs (reverbs, gates, compressors, etc) while leaving the "Channel Tools" in and it still won't play. Removing the "Channel Tools" plugs always fixes the problem.

temp fix: use the Flux Stereo Tool instead. It's free, stable and rather elegant. Not 100% identical in terms of functionality (esp if you're using the Mid-Side mode) but there's plenty there to work with.
