chord library (*.liw) import not working on MC 5.0.5

Hello, I have mistakenly deleted the default chord library in the chord properties window. Trying to import the file C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Music Creator 5\chords.liw fails. Any idea about the issue?

is this for the chord detection of something?  I don't know what this is.

you might have to reinstall MC

The chord facility is available in the Staff window. On top of that window there are the buttons for lyrics, chords, expression, hairpins and pedal. It seems that the chords.liw file used is unique, I "resolved" the problem reinstalling MC 5 and adding the 5.0.5 patch. My purpose was to add just the chords names above the staff, like in jazz "real books". The chord tool looks conceived for guitar players. However, is possible to put just the chord names and not the guitar fretboard schemes.

I see - you're wanting to add chord symbols to the notation.  I don't have MC with me at work, so I can't go check it to see if there is an option to use only chord symbols and not TAB symbols.  there might not be a way to choose only the chord names, the notation in MC is very limited.

if there's not a way to do that, I would suggest you download the very cheap Finale Notepad - I think it's only $10 and you can create notation from that without TAB symbols.

MC's strength is in recording music.  It does some very basic printing but that is really not what it was designed to do.

As Beagle suggested, there are other programs that will do the printing much better.

I have used MC's printing capabilities once or twice, but not for anything serious.
