clicks in WAVES Element VSTi bass sound
I'm using WAVES Element VSTi to create a pulsing/wobbling bass synth line (single note played plus arp to generate the bass line), but get clicks at the start of the sound (@ note on i.e. when hitting a key) ... if I keep holding the key over several measures I do not get the click in the later measures, only in the first ... I tried changing settings of the bass sound but can't get rid of the clicks ... any ideas on what to check? i quite like the "character" of this particular synth but I've had similar problems with it before (and not with other synths), so it'd be great to understand what's causing this ... (BTW, last time I "fixed" that by rendering longer notes and then using the later sections of the audio ... very time consuming edits, though)

I have heard people commenting on this before, I can't say that I have experienced it as such. What I did experience is something a 'little' along those lines with clicks at the start, but it was more of a clipping issue/output to high, and when I dropped the output a little, it's gone. I only really use presets with minor tweaks when required, so your issue and the one I have read about may well be something else, but like I say, apart from the above, I haven't came across it. There are threads at KVR which mention this.

I did more research and found threads mentioning similar problems but no solutions ... my attempts to get rid of the click so far have failed as well ... Design flaw in the synth???

Perhaps, there was one thread I can recall, pretty sure it was at KVR, where someone said they had a fix, I really can't recall 100% for sure because I didn't really take much notice because I don't have the problem, but I think it may have been something to do with backing of attack a little or something. If I come across the thread, might be hard because it could have been a thread about synths in general, and Element just came up, I'm not sure, but I will have a look tomorrow.

I found this, I think it is one of the things I recalled reading My main problem with Element is the clicky attack on fast-attack patches. I personally believe it's a bug, since switching between DCO and VCO modes doesn't fix the problem, and I've had to dial Attack back to as much as 27ms to get rid of the clicks before, which is 5x more than you normally have to on other SW or HW synths.
When you don't need fast attacks, though, Element can be quite nice, and certainly very easy to program.

Hey, big thanks for digging that out !!! I really appreciate it ... so it's a "design flaw" that can be worked around only either by bouncing and editing (like I did) or adjusting attack (and thus the sound) ...
