clip on wireless mic

I went to the State Fair of Texas this past weekend and one of the bands playing was The Kildares.  they were really good, IMO, especially the fiddle player.

my question is this - the fiddle player had a wireless mic clipped onto the body of her fiddle pointed at the strings near the sound hole.

it's difficult and maybe impossible to see in this video, but this is them last year at the fair and she has the same system there.

does anyone know what mic this is or at least what mics there are like this?

    First....what a waste of a Les Paul.

Second...Audio Technica makes several different types of wireless setups.  One, at least, could work for this setup.  By using a system that allows for use of a lavalier mic, you could easily pull this off.

    The system:

    The mics:

There are several different mics there that could work with this system...some customization might need to be done to get correct placement.

    Beagle,

ask them.  They are local and have a web site.  I think they play at the Keltic bar down in Lakewood every so often (I forget the place's name).  Yea, the Kildares are good.  I've missed them at the fair the last couple of years.  If I get the chance I'll ask about the wireless mic.

How was the fair?  We are going the last day for our fletcher's corn dog fix for the year.  Next year if you want you can park here and take the train - I'm spitting distance from the stop and you can miss the traffic, etc.

thanks, James.  I thought about the lavaliers but wasn't sure that was what it was.  when I was there I could see that it had a "head" and a foam windscreen that looked to me like it was bigger than a lavalier - more like a drum mic but I didn't think it would be a drum mic because of the frequency response that most drum mics would be able to handle.

AT - good idea!  the fair was pretty cool.  I took my wife and we just enjoyed the shows and fattening foods!  we hadn't been in several years either.  I think the Kildares were the best show that I saw.  there was a band on the truck stage that was way too loud, but the female vocalist was not fantastic, IMO, she was off-pitch in several places and didn't have control throughout the songs I heard.

we didn't have the fried beer, tho, that just didn't sound good to me!  I did have some fried cheesecake!  we looked for the fried smores but couldn't find those!

i thought about taking the train from somewhere - we looked at riding TRE from Ft. Worth to the Victory station then Dart to the fair, but that was going to take almost 2 hours to do and we didn't want to be that far from our vehicle if we decided to leave.  your place and riding dart in would be pretty good, tho!  I might take you up on that next time!

About halfway down, on the right side of the first page.  Specifically lists "violin mount".

    Reece,

feel free.  It ain't that long of a drive here, and the train is about a 10 minute ride to Fair Park.  Just check the DART schedule 1st.

We still need to get together for a preamp shootout.  I bought the Portico II, so it is avialable.
