clip’s tempo map won't save

I'm using SONAR Platinum v23.5.0 BUILD 32 [2017.05] - x64.

I'm trying to make an audio clip follow the project's tempo at 106 BPM. The clip is almost 5 minutes and wasn't recorded to a click, so the tempo ranges from 105 to 109.

AudioSnap is enabled and I clicked the Edit Clip Map. I edit the transient markers and drag the beats to the correct transient markers, so they turn red. I can't adjust more than a minutes worth or else SONAR crashes. I save after adjusting each measure and then close/re-open SONAR after every song section to prevent SONAR from crashing. This is the only thing that causes my SONAR to crash because it's otherwise stable.

Whenever I re-open the project, the Clip's Tempo Map isn't correct and doesn't remember where I left off or what transients I promoted and it's almost like it's half reset. If I click on Clip Follows Project (Beat), the clip is not following the project's tempo and I can clearly see the transients don't line up with the project's measures. I have attempted to edit the Clip's Tempo Map multiple times and it just won't sync up or save correctly.

Also, at the end of the clip, the instruments hit the last note and fade out for almost 6 seconds but the AudioSnap stretches the audio out, so it sounds real slow. Is there a way to make AudioSnap ignore the fade out and not attempt to adjust the tempo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lou

Anyone? I need to get this working for a recording session tomorrow.

I created case number 348506 on 6/25/2017 but haven't received a reply and not sure if I ever will because I'm still waiting for a reply for case number 318316 which I submitted on 6/1/2016 for an issue with automating PC-Track Tube Saturation.

Did Cakewalk ever get their Tech Support working?

Thanks,
Lou

I have tried hard before, but AudioSnap was always refusing to do what I want. Since introduction of Melodyne, I no longer try (I have immediately upgraded it to Editor and than to Studio, but I think Essential should be able to do tempo tricks as well).

That's the opposite of what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to make an audio file sync to the Project's tempo. That video shows how to make the Project follow the Audio's tempo.

Here's an example: Let's say you follow that video but then want to add some audio clips that were not recorded to a click, aren't the same tempo and SONAR isn't calculating the Audio clip's transients or tempo correctly. That's when you should be able to enable AudioSnap and then click the button to Edit Clip Map and edit transients and drag the measures and beats at the top of the clip, so they turn red. Once everything is adjusted, click Edit Clip Map to disable it and then click on Clip Follows Project. If I get this far without SONAR crashing, everything is in sync and sounds great. I save the project and close it. I open the project to work on it some more and all the edits I made to the transients are gone and the audio clip is no longer in sync and doesn't follow the projects tempo.

Thanks,
Lou

With AudioSnap it is better to bounce the clip once you have desired result (in fact that advise was also previously valid for V-Vocal and now for Melodyne).
But for Melodyne, it can do tempo tricks in both directions (detecting and changing):

Thank You! I think that's the answer I'm looking for. Hopefully I can do it with Melodyne 4 Essential because they're using Melodyne 4 Studio in the video. I'll try it later tonight.

I've been using Cakewalk for 20 years, so I don't want to learn a new DAW but it seems like a lot of the cool features in SONAR look good on paper but never seem to mature out of beta testing.

Thanks,
Lou

Sonar releases updates monthly (And also multiple updates monthly) to ensure users are working with a stable DAW.
So im not sure what you mean by "but never seem to mature out of beta testing".
That's a little harsh don't you think ?

For example Melodyne stretches as well as sets project tempo from clips very easily.
What I see "on paper" is exactly what I use weekly to stretch audio or set project tempo from clips.

Sorry If I seem harsh. I'm truthful not tactful. Why should I have to pay another $200 to upgrade Melodyne from Essential to Editor when SONAR has AudioSnap? If there's a way to do it with Melodyne Essential, please let me know.

Also, I don't want to have to waste more time learning something new. I want to waste my time being creative, not reading manuals and troubleshooting. I've been using Cakewalk since I think Cakewalk Pro Audio 6, which was around 1997.

AudioSnap has had issues since it came out 10 years ago. I still have issues with automation not always working too, which has been an issue for at least 15 years. Cakewalk needs to stop releasing new features and flair and start concentrating on resolving old bugs. I received an email in the beginning of June saying that the 2017.05 update was available and May is their 30th Anniversary. That just goes to show how their company has digressed over the years and are always running behind.

My case number 318316 which I submitted on 6/1/2016, still hasn't been resolved and the only reply I received from Tech Support was that they were busy and gave me a 15% coupon which says "Excludes third-party products and bundles", so i can't even use it towards Melodyne Editor. I know I sound negative but I really like SONAR but wish we could get better support.

Thanks,
Lou

Audiosnap just received an overhaul less than 2 years ago.

This is starting to turn in to a debate rather than helping you with your issue. My fault.
Sorry I couldn't help you with your issue. good luck though.

I do not understand how you could survive all that time without immediate bouncing any ARA like tweaks (AudioSnap, V-Vocal). I have started with X1, may be the worse version in that respect. If I remember correctly, I have learned to bounce as early as possible during the first week
I like Melodyne, i have upgraded to Editor right after registration and then to Studio. I prefer standalone use for tempo (and other) tweaks... may be I just have not understood how to do this correctly within Sonar, but in early days ARA was crushing too fast. There was several fixes, I guess I have to try again.
