computer question

I have an Asus board that has:
2 xSATA 6.0 Gb/s ports
2 xSATA 6.0 Gb/s ports by Marvell 9120
2X SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports

I have 3 hard drives that are 6.gbs
I know not to use the Marvell controller.
So, I'm short one 6.0 Gb/s controller

Can I use the 3.0gbs controller for one of my 6.0 gbs  drives?

If so, would I get better performance with a 3.0 Gb/s drive.

Thanks

ASUS P8P67, i7-2600K, CORSAIR 16GB, HIS 5450, 3 Samsung SSD 850, Win7 64, RME AIO.

Why can't you use the Marvell controller?

Asus and Marvell, not a happy marriage. The Marvell controller is not reliable.

Timidi:  Can I use the 3.0gbs controller for one of my 6.0 gbs  drives? + yes ..the drive will run at 3.0gbs. just slower transfer

If so, would I get better performance with a 3.0 Gb/s drive.  no

as for the marvell controller there were issues on the asus p6t 1st
boards, personaly id load up the os and update the stuff ..like I told you. chipset marvell usb... and see how it performs, it should work and be stable, but will not max out your sata 6.0 gbs drive, now you do have a RMA time line and if the controller is a issue u can swap boards to the giga i showd you with 6 sata 6.0 gbs controllers.. hope this helpd..
