connecting an AKAI LPD8 controller

I'm new to SONAR and DAWs in general and just getting started . I've got SONAR X1 Studio and got my Line6 KB37 connected ( although I'm still having trouble getting the knobs to work).  But I just can"t seem to get anything from the LPD8 and I'd like to use the pads for drums. I've entered the midi note numbers for SI Drums into the LPD8 editor and assigned a preset to the controller and got the LPD8 assigned as the input for the track but it's not working.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks .

First thing: did you enable the MIDI ins and outs for the KB37 in Sonar?
2nd Thing: did you enable a soft synth so when you press the pads on the KB37, the Midi from the KB can trigger the soft synth in sonar to make sounds.

The pads and keys are MIDi controllers and MIDI isn't sound, its just data. You need something like a soft synth or a hardware synth to connect it to and make sounds
