cool free old reverb (if you can find it)

Good analytic noise recent about reverbs, Lexicon, Valhalla, etc. Many may have this other one already, but if not, worth the time to search for an active link. Don't know if it is available anymore. Have seen references that the non shareware version is available for about $180. You can try this out to start the search:

http://www.soundsondemand.com/detail.asp/free_halls_of_fame-origami_edition/en

Free Origami HOF. Convolution based though the freeware version does't let you import external IR files. There's miles of damage to be done with the free version however. Killer stuff especially if you are into dark reverbs.

Hi point is the inclusion of Elastique to bend the pitch of the IR file. Communicated some time ago with the respected dev of Reverberate, requesting a similar time stretch. He included a subsequent time stretch but said that the licensing was prohibitive to go the wide spectrum Elastique route.

Tradeoff in the free HOF version is that you get the benefits of Elastique as a teaser but can't import IR's.

Think that the full version of HOF is included in the Yellow Tools Independence package however much that costs.  Yellow tools is cool and would be worth getting just for the full version Origami reverb.

Yellow Tools is now Magix .

I have Independence...but don't recall seeing this reverb,
but, honestly, I haven't looked for it.

A while back, I tried Yellow Tools and something went wrong. I don't remember what; all I can say is I deleted it thinking it wasn't doing me any good to have it installed. In fact, I seem to remember a lot of crashing. Something like that. It's possible that was before Magix bought them, too.

I don't this doesn't shed any light on anything, but there you are: my experience with Yellow Tools.

Why 'Yellow?' Is there a significance to that?

I loved the HOF origami reverb. But I moved to a new computer and couldn't find the authorization file. I liked it a lot for drums. Thanks for posting this.

Wow, you must have the full version somewhere.

Was searching for the link to the freebie and found Strikingly's post on Google from long ago. Took me right to one of the last remaining links. Requires setting up an account. The demo is both 32 and 64 bit, major limitation that you can't import external IR files.

Playing with the pitch of the IR files creates massive deep reverbs. Speeding up the pitch creates interesting overtones. This is a must have for a freebie.

darn my Alzheimers. Looks like the link Striking posted is the one I found also. Was looking at some of the paid products on the pages, but it's unclear as to whether they are selling just the IR libraries and not including the program with it.

Looking at some of the IR libraries, it does look like you can get Origami by buying a cheap IR set. This as an example:

    http://www.soundsondemand.com/detail.asp/emt_240_gold_foil_plate/en/216

If this is real, makes it a no brainer for 19 euros.

The free version comes with a lot of Presets...from Several 240's to a Ton of Lexicons...
and it sounds decent.  If you get the full version with one of the IR's....I agree...
No brainer.  Not a very "Intuitive" interface...but it will do the job for sure...

Sent in an email to Sounds on Demand asking for more info, mainly if the IR sets come with the full version, and what type copyright protection is used.

It's a bit confusing because there are references on the web that you can load your own impulses in the full version, but there is a blurb in the SOD description for one of their bundles saying Audio import was not supported, possibly meaning IR's. If this is the case, the set could be locked into just the IR's you buy with some LE edition of Origami.

Will report what I find out if they respond.

Got a reply that answered a couple concerns.

The HOF series of Origami cannot load external IR files. All the variants come with just what they are supplied with.

One gets Origami Pro with the full Independence bundle which can load any IR files, which might be worth getting everything at 59 euros:

    [link=http://www.bestservice.de/en/independence_pro_software_suite_3_1.html]http://www.bestservice.de...oftware_suite_3_1.html[/link]

Been awhile since I played with Independence Free but remember some of the troubles getting data directories set up. The sounds were quite good however.

Would be helpful to hear from others about their experience with the full version and if they still require the dongle.

edit.  saw on the site that online activation is now the authorization method, no more dongle

This is too much....it coverts to $80 and some cents...and you can buy it directly
from Magix for $65....if you want the 70 GB of content you'll have to pay a lot more.

    OUCH.......

    Big difference 65 versus 330.

Thanks for this info, and for the link with Magix. Was unable to find this on their homepage.

    No prob John...

Yes, the Pro Division, that also sells the full version of Samplitude,
is separate from the Consumer Software, which is why you couldn't
    find it...

Even still....$65.00 is a far better price for a decent sampler then $299 for SampleTank...
Even if you bought the Regular Library at 12 GB you'd still be ahead, as it comes with
    Independence...at $130.00!!!

Did some more research and downloaded a ...uh..."evaluation" version of the basic Independence. This is what I'm leaning towards...

The $65 version (thanks cclarry) includes a basic library and the Independence FX vst. The fx dll has some run of the mill effects, compressor, flange, phase, limiter, some can sims, stereo delay, graphic eq and Origami (which is what I was after). Runs fine in Sonar as a vst.

Origami with the paid edition does indeed load external IR files on top of what comes with it. Question is if it is worth it. I have gigabyte libraries of impulse files that never get used and are in reality close to all being the same except for length.

The free HOF Origami has some fine IR's from Lexicon, Eventide and others and does about everything to showcase the niche need for Origami, that being the Elastique stretch of the IR's up and down to get some novel effects.

Went back to play Independence Free and gave up after a few minutes struggling to get the "root folder" recognized. In the wake of so much out there, deleted Independence Free and deleted the "evaluation" version of Inde Pro since I won't be paying for it.

Advice then is to go for the free HOF Origami reverb vst. Such a generous free gift from those guys.

Similar note, awhile back I was trying to understand the pre and post processing of IR's given the various approaches of the convolution devs.

Time stretch was an obvious plus, so what if you could go to the original IR and process the file first. Took a generic free cathedral file, spliced it together for length in Audition. Dropped the pitch using Elastique in Reaper and then sent it through a stereo flanger. The result was at least quite unique, considering where it came from.

Posted this on Swoopshare for anyone who wants to try it out. One trick pony for sure, but one hell of a synthetic spinnoff of a cathedral. Hope you guys like it. Link for download (about 1.25 MB):

I got Independence Pro Basic free with a program.  It has it's uses..and I really didn't pay for it and got
the 12 GB Library also, all for about 1/4 of the price of Independence Basic, so I'm happy with that...

    guys,

Last time bump before this thread goes off to the bottom of the bird cage into obscurity.

Link to  a stereo IR file, load into any convolution reverb unit that accepts sterro impulses.

Is this uber cool or not? Church serivces maybe never sounded like this.

Bumped the link, and can now let it "Fade to Blue"

    Best to all of you,
