cracking on high pitch notes cakewalk? or vsti?

On particular parts where I have high pitch notes of violine, its sound starts cracking. It happens when I solo out too so i'm guessing it's not my computer speed that's lagging. What's funky is same pitch notes work in other less concentrated parts..
Can anyone help out?

i'm using sonar 8 eastwest symphonic orchestra violin

It could be a variety of things, but I'm pretty sure Sonar isn't one of them. I have two hunches. First, it could be that a particular sample at a particular velocity level has a crackle in the sound. Solution - try changing the velocity to where it triggers a different sample layer. My second hunch is that you're hearing the acoustic effect of several notes being played together (you did mention "less concentrated parts" indicating this might be occurring in a "more concentrated part"). This can happen with samples, although it doesn't happen with real instruments - and that's a whole different discussion. Solution try rearranging that particular section and see if the problem goes away. Adjusting velocity levels of individual notes might work, too, since it alters the balance of sonic energy at that point.

Another thought - are you using any effects like reverb? Check you levels and see if you're overdriving or distorting anywhere along the line. You could be sending too much signal to the reverb's input.

thats a great responce..i was thinking the same..distortion maybe.

Yeah, clipping is a prime suspect. if you don't already have it, download Voxengo SPAN, and insert it in your master bus. This will show you if you are overcooking it.
Also you latency may be too low. For playback, you can bump your latency out to 20-50ms, or more, but 50ms is usually adequate.
This gives the synths a little more breathing room.
Turn on the Wave preview in your sunth audio tracks. This will give you an immediate indicator if any sounds are clipping. If you see a red line at any waveform, it's clipping, which can cause clicks and pops.

Are you having an EQ that have treble raised somehow?

I mean it would be enough to make those notes create internal overs.
