I've long wondered what the heck "BBD emulation" really means in a digital world. Does it mean noisy? Distorted? Impossible to set for precise intervals? Limited to a few milliseconds' delay? These are all characteristic of a real BBD. I suspect that it just means a normal delay with a high cut filter on the output.

It actually does mean "Bucket-Brigade-Device" which, of course, begs the next question:  What the heck is a "bucket-brigade-device???

It's an analog shift register, the basis for the first sold-state (that is, no moving parts) delays.

They were actually pretty low-fidelity in audio applications: noisy and band-limited. But as with so many crappy first-generation effects those limitations came to be thought of as part of their "vintage" charm. Kind of like how we get nostalgic for Chamberlins and Echoplexes.

BBDs were better at very short delays, where they found applications in feedback loops for automatic speed adjustments in DC motor-driven devices such as industrial pumps that needed to operate at precise speeds.

I can still remember the first time I saw the first BBD in a component catalog, circa 1973, and getting very excited wondering if they might be suitable for audio effects (although the manufacturer made no such claims initially). Sure enough, companies such as Eventide Clockworks came along to exploit them - and to price them completely out of my reach.

This appears to be the extent of the documentation: "Twiddle the knobs until it sounds good".

Good news.  Documentation available, and in a rather obvious way, I'm embarrassed to say.  On the download page, there are (at least for Fazortan) three different language versions that can be brought up as a PDF.  From there, just save the file to your local computer.  Duh!

Redopter, Syntorus and Toraverb. Next up is Decimort, er, Devastor - those goofy names are hard to keep straight.

They've reached the 500 mark, so it's 4 for 1 right now. There's a good possibility that might even reach the 5 for 1 (they need 240 in 2 weeks). Getting in on this tonight....

I just tried Redopter + Toraverb on Orange Tree Evolution last night and was very pleased with the result. It was a Gilmour-ish melodic lead with lots of pitch-bends and modulation to excite the reverb. Psych-o-freakin-delic!

I'd have lit a joint then and there if I'd had any it was legal.

I stopped checking the D16 site once the GB hit 500, but took a look just now and by golly it's just shy of 600 already. It might actually hit the next level. I may get that phaser yet.

This is truly a fantastic deal to get such quality plugs. If it does hit the 750 mark, it'll be like getting $11 per plug....really nice!!

Only 85 to go to reach 750 (as of afternoon of 6/6).  Start picking out your next freebie selection.  750 is almost a sure thing at this point.

I already had a slot open in a current project for the phaser plugin and had previously downloaded the dll, so within a minute of the GB hitting 750 I had the new freebie mixed into a song.

You were right, pal, that phaser ain't no ordinary phaser. I put it on a rhythm guitar track and it suddenly sounds like two guitars doing an intricate interplay. I like effects that make it sound like I worked harder at it than I really did.

Given that the 750 mark was reached this quickly, there's a good possibility the 1000 mark can be reached by the 15th.......I've posted this on other sites and hope you all will do the same. Let's get that 6 for 1.

Thursday morning with six days to go and the count is at 840.  Aren't all of you who spent hours agonizing over which of the plugs to pick going to feel silly after the dust settles on this?

As an aside, here's a cool Toraverb trick I discovered.  Maybe you can do this with any verb and it's old hat ... but it put a smile on my face when I discovered it.  Select a middle of the road preset.  Play a chord and hold it.  Slowly increase the room size to max.  Release the chord and reduce the room size down to zero at a medium fast rate.  There must be some doppler effect happening in the calculations.  Neat!

Looks like a lot of people were just waiting for it to hit the next level before joining in. It's entirely possible the 1000 level will be reached, triggering the most unlikely event of all: bitflipper acquires a bitcrusher plugin and hell will have truly frozen over.

Just had a playaround with the demos. Looks like I am doomed to be in on this one. I have minimal Sonar 8.5 installation on my work laptop now so I can do some basic things when I am travelling, and againt all odds its running VSTis OK throught the built in sound using ASIO4ALL

The chorus and phaser did some great things to TTS 1 strings and when one of the Toraverb presets turned some chords using TTS clean guitar preset into a autoharp type sound I was hooked.

Earlier in the thread it was mentioned that 64 bit versions are in the pipeline,  I am running 64 bit and the plugs seem to work fine through Bitbridge.
