delete first few measures
I cannot figure out how to Delete/Remove the first say 3 measures from my project. I used to be able to "Select All" in 8.5 then drag all the tracks to the left to fill in the empty measures at the beginning of the project, but that doesn't appear to work in X1. Anyone have a solution to this?

If you want to delete the first couple of measures. You can select all like you want and go to the top where the measure number ruler is and select them and delete. I can drag my tracks to the left, Maybe I am not understanding the full question.

Anyone have a solution to this? Make sure your snap settings aren't preventing you from dragging. Either temporarily turn snap off or make sure it's set to "move to" and set snap to measure. Also, make sure you don't actually have the empty space in the first three measure selected or your selection can't move because it's already at the first measure.

I always do this by highlighting every thing except the first three measures and doing a slide -3. But note that if an event starts even one tick before bar 3, the slide won't work. In other words, you have to have to space or your command will be ignored. Ancient Cakewalk had a better Delete Hole function.

I just place a marker at the start of the song and call it "Start". What's so important about having to start at the very begining of the "tape"?

I routinely start all my projects at either measure 2 or 3. This gives time for the synths to initialise and "get into gear" You might run into problems by starting your project at 01:01:000

This may not matter to anyone else, but I always leave 3 blank bars so I can get a solid SMPTE lock-up to other equipment when needed (even though I know that is not the most modern or accuate standard).
