different sound
Hello, I have been using MC for quite some time now. But when I opened it up today to record something, one of the chords (D minor) in strings sounds different. When I play without recording everything works fine, but when I record the sound comes out different. I am using other chords too which all sounds the same while this chord alone differs. I have not had this problem before which makes it all the more funny. Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks.

I experienced the same thing when using Sampletank's free piano. It would work with some MIDI, but not with others and I never did figure out what caused it or why. I did have a work around by using a different synth. when I substituted Edirol for that midi source file, it played fine. if i put Sampletank back in, it sounded like drunken monkeys playing on my keyboard!

I was having similar problems with MC3, it would play fine for a minute or two thn sound like it was slowing down, it would drop midi notes and just everything was bad. I finally solved the problem by using another program unless i was just doing audio or was just editing midi files.

My first (and maybe only) suggestion at this point would be to try a different synth. which one are you using? if you're not using Edirol, try it. if you are, try downloading a free one and use it and see what the results are.

I am using edirol. Do you mean to say I should try some other free synth? If so, can you suggest me a website where I can get some? Thanks.

Try this: sampletank or try KVR - excellent resource for all things related to recording software and hardware: kvr

If edirol is degrading then i suggest some extra work to get the system working better, because edirol should work. If it is breaking down something is wrong.

I completely agree with Robo here, if there's a problem with Edirol then the system needs whatever is wrong fixed. I didn't intend to lead anyone to believe that changing to another synth was the means to an end - simply a tool to help eliminate problems. if the problem still exists with another synth, then you'll have that information to help you track down the problem - if it doesn't then there's another path to take. I would also suggest opening the tutorials and see if the problem exists in there. I don't remember if there's specifically a D minor in there, but for when I had the problem, it wasn't necessarily the same chord(s) every time anyway. try several other midi files, in fact. i think there are some samples with MC in the sample folder, if not, there are tons of midi files on the internet which are free to download.
