docking problem(s) in X3

I always HATED that the View-Piano.roll docked itself in X1; always had to do a bunch of extra clicking and monkeying about needlessly to undock and stretch to usable proportions .... but X3 seems worse!!  Both V-vocal and Melodyne open up docked at the bottom of the screen, where doing anything with them is absolutely impossible without dragging the screen upwards so you can actually see.  Of course then you can't see the tracks.  Great.  What is the point of "docking" versus opening in a free floating window I can then drag over to another monitor?!?  THE REALLY BAD THING is that neither V-vocal nor Melodyne can be undocked!!!  Or at least I can't figure it out....

1.  Is there a way to completely disable the docking nonsense?  Other than docking the Inspector and the Browser, does anybody really use/want docking, find it annoying?

2.  How do you undock v-vocal/melodyne which have no undock button?

I put the multidock full size on the second monitor because it clutters up the track view too much. Works well this way.

I don't understand what you mean when you indicated you "put the multidock full size on the second monitor".  How do you do that.

ALSO why can't I right-click on a clip anymore and open up an undocked v-vocal from there?

Undock the multidock (click on the down arrow, bottom right) drag it to the second monitor and then full size it and leave it there. To bring up existing open VV instances double click on the clip.

What you can do is grab the tab of the docked PRV and pulled it over to your 2nd monitor. All docked views can be floated.

The multidock can also be floated.

Sweet!  I saved, shut down X3, re-opened there she was over on monitor 2.  Great balls of fire, how many years have I been struggling with that?

ONE MORE QUESTION:  I minimized the dock on monitor 2, and poof it went bye bye, and I couldn't find anyway to reconstitute.  Where did it go?  And how do I get it back?  [ I had to close and reopen the project to get it back. ]

If you had the Multidock on the the 2nd monitor and you hit "D" just hit "D" again and it should restore it.

OH MAN!!!!!  That is great thanks.  I wonder how many HOURS I have wasted doing it the dumb way I have been since X1 first came out?  Maybe I should change my avatar into something that more efficiently reflects what a spaceman I must be!!!!

I have had many with the X series. I am so glad that from X1 I started with "I'm throwing out the old, and I will learn the new" And I really tried!!

Can't tell you how many times I tried to keep on doing it the way I was use to doing it, only to get frustrated and finally break down and try the new approach. And then that moment of realization when it sinks in that I could have been doing it so much easier all along!
