No, Mickeyratt, it's you who need to give some details. What have you done this far? How far did you get? Which part of the manual gets you stuck?

What do you mean by "sync up"? Is there latency or are you not getting any signal through? If you talk about latency - then, what's your soundcard? What driver mode are you using and what is your latency set to? ASIO is the preferred driver, but integrated soundchips don't support it. ASIO4ALL is a substitute that sometimes works.

Connecting a USB MIDI controller is usually quite straightforward (it does require it's drivers installed, I suppose).

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Possibly looking to get the m-audio oxygen 49 to act as a control surface.
Hit P for to bring up Preferences Screen.
There is a Midi tab in there as a starting place.
    Its 2am....will revisit this tomorrow.

    Hello.

I owned an Oxygen 49 a while back, it was compact enough for road trips and it worked ok with Sonar 8.5.   It should work as well with X1.

Cakewalk supplies a preset for the Oxygen 49 - I just now checked and it is in X1 also.
I'll assume you've installed the drivers.

    The steps to install are:
    1. Set the Oxygen 49 to preset #10 (look in your Oxygen manual for instructions)
    2. Install the Oxygen 49 as an "ACT Midi Controller" in the X1 preferences menu. Insure you enable the input.
    3. In the control bar of X1, locate the ACT module and select the "ACT Midi Controller" from the drop-down.
    4. In that same module, click the Control/Surface Properties button (looks like a menu icon).
    5. You should now see the ACT Midi Controller Preset window.  Go to the presets, scroll down, select the "M-Audio Oxygen 49 (Preset 10)" preset.

That's it.  It should get you started and you can then edit the preset as you wish and save a new preset as well.  There is a help file to take you further.

    Good Luck

thanks katherine..I am very new to midi. I do not understand midi maps and clocks and presets and all..I usually had used a much more simple guitar tacks program. I wanted to start playing and learning about soft synths so I stepped into x1..your info was very helpful and I will start there...i will also invest in some books or videos to help me understand midi and all of the other daw technical jargen. I was told at guitar center that the oxygen49 and sonar would atomaticly recognize each other and the drivers instal atomaticly when I would plug the controller in. It does recognize oxygen in the midi devices in the preference tab..but I did not understand all the preset stuff......so I will try that later today and see how that works

also thank you to the other members who have commented on this thread..I sometimes dont know how to pose my question because of my little knowlage on daw and midi. I watched like 4 hours of training videos on x1 and it got me up to speed on navigating x1 but I am more familiar with recording audio insturments..midi is new waters for me. So when I put out a post I dont supply enough info because I dont know where to start.. does anybody have any good suggestions on books or training videos to help me learn about daw and midi? thanks agian for your help and patience, Mickeyratt

Rantaaho, you must work at Sweetwater in sales. If not, you would qualify to. You're an a**hole know-it-all with little to no time to help someone who may not be as knowledgable as you are on ALL subjects. You and your rude ego need to just stay in your perfect little studio making your perfect music that no one will ever listen to. This is a "help forum" not a "put people down that ask for help" forum. You don't belong here ! ! !

@eventhorizon,the word you speak of,a person so rude, you might want to re-evalute that and look in the mirror.
