does the aud. ini file update everytime you open x1 ?

just trying to confirm something here.
i could have sworn my aud.ini file only updated its date every few weeks, days.or when ever i changed a preference setting.

this is how to check.(for 64bit)-for 32bit use programfiles(86)
go to c/program files/cakewalk/producerx1/ cakwalk user data/producerx1
*the way to check is to open up sonar and then open the preference menu..close it/close sonar then check the file, the date next to it will show if it was updated.

im finding everytime i open sonar the aud.ini file is updating.which is leading me to believe its trying to configure something.

i really appreciate this.

To my knowledge Charlie, it's only updating whatever changes you make. It's not trying to configure anything. For example, I'm constantly changing bit/sample rates and ASIO buffer sizes with every project I create or open. This is going to update the AUD.ini file and update it every time I do this. Little things like that are all it takes to have a new update time stamp on it.

Think of the things you do often that would alter that file...and you'll understand how it's working. Try it now if you need to or wait a day and then change your sample rate or something...or change your asio buffer size. It will update that file. So if you're doing stuff like I am where you may use 64 buffers to record and 4096 to mix/playback, you'll be updating that file every time. I could be dead wrong on this, but it is my belief that what I'm saying is true.

i think your right..and this was my belief also..and this is why i dont understand why its updating everytime i open sonar..even if i do nothing..no changes, nothing.thank you.

The datestamp on aud.ini gets updated every time SONAR is opened, even if no project is loaded. That has always been the case, I think. Obviously, you cannot assume that something's actually been reconfigured based on the datestamp alone.

If you're like most people, you've probably made a backup of your aud.ini file at some time in the past. If so, compare it to your current one and see what's been changed since then. The FC command will do that for you and will identify even inconsequential changes such as the addition of blank lines or tabs.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Appears to me it updates when I close SONAR, which makes more sense. It's just SONAR making sure the current status of everything is saved. The timestamp does not change when I open SONAR after having it closed for some time.
