double door sound proof

Ok so I have a door that needs soundproofing. It doesnt have to be crazy dead silent but a decent amount of noise reduction would be great.

It is a double door and is metal. One door stays closed while the other one is the one that opens to enter.
From inside the studio, the door opens inward.

There is molding around the outside of the door that sticks out pass the flush surface of the door.

Im thinking of building some kind of frame that attatches the the door and goes around the outside of the molding that surrounds the doorway.

Using 2X4's or maybe 2X2's, I would build a frame and then attach a material to the side that hits the wall with some kind of sealing foam like used on windows.

Then I could fill the frame with owens corning 702 so it would serve as a bass trap as well, and cover it in some kind of cloth.
I would make it so there is some space between the owens corning and the door so there is a dead air gap that would help stop sound from passign through.

On the bottom of the fram I would put a rubber door sweep to block sound down there.

My question is, does anyobdy have any better ideas?
Also, Where the door opens, Im thinking there would have to be a break in the frame on top and bottom and hinges there so the frame would open with the door. Any suggestion here? Of course I would put some weather strip sealing in that break so that when the door closed, it would seal-

Lastly, I would make the frame break also in the middle area where the door opens. I would make the break about 4 inches past the middle part so it would overlap into the other door that stays closed. I would put weather sealing here as well so when closed, the break would seal.

Where I put the weather sealing or whatever material I will use, The cloth that covers the panel would wrap around it as well as to keep it in tack.

Anybody that has done something like this, please offer any ideas you might have.

Thinking about it more, I think a smart thing to do would be to put a layer of sheet rock on the outside of the frame, coat it with limp mass vinyl, and maybe some insulation on the insde of it.

Then as far as bass traps with owens corning, make that a separate project that would hang on the frame instead of being part of it.

Then I could use the bass traps elsewhere if wanted, and the frame would be more soundproof using the sheet rock and limp mass vinyl...

here is a picture of the door:

Lance, I've never used a real sound booth door but a few things I've read in the past stress the idea that both doors should have good seals.

I think standard foam weatherstrip sealing is ok for this.

You can bolster each doors thickness with extra material like dry wall or absorptive material but I think the sealing is the most effective thing you can do.

    best regards,
    mike

thanx man, by typing this post, I think I thought it out and got an idea how to do it. I agree, the seals gotta be decent most importantly, and limp mass vinyl will kick butt as well

Yes, airproof seal is the most important thing to stop transmission.  Next is weight of the material.  SOS talks about an interesting technique where thick rubber/plastic sheeting is hung a few inches in front of a solid wall and absorbs the sound energy hitting it from outside and reflections from the wall.  But I suppose if you hung it from your steel doors it would help.

In one of the studios I use the owner took basic slidding glass door and installed them parellel - one behind the other.  It works very well, tho you need a double wall for that.

That's what I thought Lance meant when he said double doors. The picture loaded slow for me and I imagined a airlock type double door.
