double notes when recording midi through S90es

Don't have a lot of recent experience with midi files so here goes---got Heal the World for a client, after switching getting the GM going on the keyboard, I switched some tones around, changed some keys, all is fine, but since I am using a keyboard instead of a soft synth I can't render right? So, I have the outputs of the S90 going into the digimax, all is well, but when I hit record it is recording double notes it seems. I have local off, I don't have midi echo on, yet the minute I hit record I am getting what seems like double notes, mute everything but the .wav I just recorded and sure enough it sounds just like the recording---double notes.

What is that?
Thanks

also, just so you know, I am soloing the recorded track to hear back and have keyboard volume off--so I'm not hearing the midi twice.

I don't quite understand how your hardware is setup. The only time I've had that happen is when the hardware I'm plugging my midi into, is setup to echo. If you're using real midi cables, as opposed to USB, you could just unplug the the midi out from your synth hardware, since it sounds like you don't need the return midi anyway.

weird--realized in devices I could just take out the midi out from S90 USB--anyway, went ahead and did that, and switched to MOTU just the out to the keyboard--and still getting the double notes----weird stuff.
